Game over
Monday 19 January evening: An AC Milan spokesman announces that Kaka is staying at Milan after team owner Silvio Berlusconi talks on Italian TV.
City issue a statement saying they had ended talks, believing it was unlikely a deal could be struck with Milan.
Executive chairman Garry Cook says: "The discussions reached only a preliminary stage and the player was not involved at any time."
Berlusconi says: "That's the end of the story. I'm truly delighted to have kept Kaka. He is a great champion and a great man. He said it's because money isn't everything in life."
