Luton manager Mike Newell says he has evidence that the director of a rival club once offered him a bribe. Newell claimed on Thursday that bungs are rife in football and is set to meet the Football Association next week to discuss his shock allegations.
"I have evidence and I will give it to the FA," Newell told the Daily Express.
"I will present evidence of how a club director offered me a sweetener - a bribe - to sell him one of our players when Luton were in administration."
Newell also says he will give the FA the name of agents who have offered him bribes over potential transfer deals.
He added: "Agents have offered me cuts of transfer deals. I haven't got a long list to present to the FA, but there are instances I do know about.
"I know I have opened up a can of worms but it should have been opened a long time ago.
"I didn't want to know about the sort of money being offered, so I wouldn't go into sums - I wanted to be able to sleep at night.
"But what I know about my level in the Football League is one thing - knowing the huge sums involved on players in the Premier League, these sweeteners must be massive."
Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney praised Newell for his stance and said he would be happy to talk with the Luton manager.
"I think Mike Newell has been courageous and I salute him and I'm pleased that he's been invited to talk to the FA," Mawhinney told BBC Radio Five.
"If he thinks that's too lonely and he would like to share the information with me as the chairman of the league on a private basis, then I would be very happy to talk to him."
Mawhinney believes the FA needs to improve the regulation of agents so the system is less open to abuse.
He added: "It's the FA's job to regulate agents and I wish it was more rigorous than it is but that's their responsibility and they will speak for themselves.
"What we can do is regulate clubs in terms of their relationships with agents.
"We're going to do that, the clubs have given us a strong mandate and we will have some draft regulations for them to talk about in March.
"I have been having discussions with agents and there are more discussions to come."
