Birmingham City have decided not to pursue their interest in midfielder Nigel Quashie following his loan spell.
The 30-year-old, who has been at St Andrew's since October, made the last of his 11 appearances in last week's FA Cup third round defeat by Wolves.
Quashie joined the Hammers from West Brom in January 2007 but saw his time at Upton Park ruined by injury.
Blues have made five signings during January, including Quashie's West Ham team-mate midfielder Lee Bowyer.
Quashie still has another 18 months to run on his contract at Upton Park.
