Rigters was a marginal part of Blackburn's squad last season

Championship side Barnsley have signed striker Maceo Rigters on a season-long loan deal from Blackburn Rovers.

The Dutchman failed to make an impact at Ewood Park since signing from NAC Breda in July 2007, making just two starting appearances last season.

The 24-year-old had a brief loan spell with Norwich at the end of last season, but was restricted to two matches because of a hamstring injury.

Rigters won the Golden Boot at the 2007 European Under-21s Championships.
