Wales boss Toshack hopes to qualify for Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine
Wales open their Euro 2012 Group G qualifying fixtures on a Friday night as John Toshack's men visit Montenegro.
Rivals England travel to Wales on Saturday, 26 March 2011 - the weekend after the Six Nations rugby finishes.
Wales' return fixture at Wembley is on Tuesday, 6 September so key midfielder Aaron Ramsey is set to have returned to fitness for the England games.
Wales will play four Friday night fixtures - including home games against Montenegro, Switzerland and Bulgaria.
A random draw was made at Uefa's congress meeting in Tel Aviv after the Group G rivals failed to agree to their 2012 European Championship schedule at a meeting last week.
"Friday night football is good," said Wales defender Ashley Williams.
"I enjoy Friday night football and most of the fans enjoy it and it would probably give us as players more time to recover after games."
The random draw has awarded Wales just one traditional Saturday game - and that is the highly-anticipated match with neighbours England next March.
But the Friday night games - a new concept for British international teams - can be switched to a Saturday should both associations agree.
Wales' first home fixture is on Friday, 8 October as Dimitar Berbatov's Bulgaria travel to play Toshack's men - but the fixture will not be at their regular Millennium Stadium home.
The 74,000-capacity stadium is to host a 'Monster Jam' monster trucks event on 9 October so Wales' opening home Euro 2012 qualifying fixture is to be played at either the new Cardiff City Stadium or Swansea's Liberty Stadium.
Then Wales play just one competitive game - the showdown with England - in 11 months between October 2010 and September 2011.
Playmaker Ramsey, who needed surgery to fix a double fracture to his tibia and fibula after suffering a horrific injury at Stoke last month, is likely to miss Wales' three games in 2010.
But the Arsenal teenager is expected to be fit when England visit Wales in 12 months time.
Boss Toshack said: "There are no soft touches in this group and I can see teams taking points off each other on a regular basis.
"England are clearly the favourites for the group, but I know that all the other sides will very much fancy their own chances."
Wales play two tough away fixtures in a tricky Group G opening as former Wales defender Mark Delaney acknowledges it will not be easy for boss Toshack's team.
"You always want to get off to a good start," said the ex-Aston Villa right-back.
"Although there are no easy games in international football thesedays, to have two away in the first three will not be easy."
Wales, whose world ranking is 76, are the lowest ranked team in Group G as England are eighth, the Swiss are 15th, Bulgaria are 30th and Montenegro are 71st in the world.
The Welsh have won 14 of their 99 meetings with England - and just three since 1955 - while their only victory over Switzerland in five games was in 1951.
Wales lost to Montenegro in their only meeting while the Welsh have beaten Bulgaria only twice in six meetings.
