Sean Friars moved to Newry from Cliftonville in the summer |
Two Sean Friars goals helped Newry City claim a comfortable win over dismal Dungannon Swifts at the Showgrounds. Newry lost Cullen Feeney because of injury early on and home goalkeeper Robert Robinson then denied Swifts striker Niall McGinn with a fine save.
Friars fired Newry ahead on 41 minutes after good work by James Willis.
Friars made it 2-0 on 52 minutes and with the Swifts claiming offside, Willis hit the third and Shea Campbell missed a late Dungannon penalty.
Campbell had earned the Dungannon penalty himself after being felled by Ian Curran.
Friars' opening goal was a superb shot from 16 yards after Willis' cross from the left.
