Cometh the hour, cometh the men
One man who seems to have come of age more than any other during Scotland's qualifying campaign is Everton striker James McFadden.
McFadden has been inspirational since his return in September from an injury which kept him out for three months, and he has scored three goals in his last four games, including the winner in France.
"If you are looking for someone to produce that extra quality to win the match, McFadden would be the man," says BBC sport football expert Alan Hansen.
And Hansen has also hailed the performances of centre-backs David Weir and Stephen McManus, who he rates as "incredible".
