Olsen's side made it tough for Scotland in the Svangaskard Stadium |
Faroe Islands boss Jogvan Martin Olsen reflected on the ill-luck that stalked his side against Scotland in their 2-0 Euro 2008 qualifying defeat in Toftir. It was a much closer contest than the Scots' 6-0 September win in Glasgow, and Olsen said: "I was disappointed at the mistake for the first goal.
"In the second half we saw a lot of confidence from my players.
"We had three or four very good chances but when you miss these kinds of opportunities you can't win a match."
Following the Faroes' 2-1 defeat to Italy in Torshavn, on Saturday, the North Atlantic minnows have yet to win a point in Group B.
Goals from Shaun Maloney and Garry O'Connor in the first half were sufficient to clinch victory for Alex McLeish's men.
