Skipper Steven Gerrard has hinted he could remain at Liverpool after beating AC Milan to lift the European Cup. Liverpool beat Milan on penalties after the match finished 3-3 and Gerrard said: "Lifting the trophy has to be the best feeling ever.
"How can I think of leaving Liverpool after a night like this?
"I am really happy with the club. I will be having talks with the chairman and the manager shortly, but it is looking good."
Gerrard admitted his form had been hot and cold this season but said he would be a different player next season.
"Liverpool fans are crazy, they were unbelievable, and I'd like to dedicate this victory to them," added Gerrard.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield in order to satisfy his ambition to win silverware.
But Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry said: "I don't think it's down to money for Steven, it's about his craving for success.
"He's made no secret of the fact that his ideal would be to win trophies with Liverpool. That's our ambition too, so the two go hand in hand.
"We always felt the key was that he could fulfil his ambitions at Liverpool. From when we sat down with him last year, he knows we're as ambitious as he is.
"There was a dilemma for him last summer which we can understand but our message was `stick with it and let's see what happens'.
"Well, look what has happened. It shows he made the right decision in terms of staying and now we want to kick on together."
Parry also revealed that Gerrard woke up with the European Cup in his bed.
"The cup ended up in Steven Gerrard's bed last night, he wouldn't let go of it!"
Team-mate Vladimir Smicer added: "The cup ended up with Stevie G in his room. His girlfriend wasn't here, so he had the cup in his bed instead."
Parry wryly observed he would "have to see" whether Gerrard was allowed to follow through his aim of matching Phil Thompson's example in taking the trophy back to his local pub in 1981.
