Spain coach Inaki Saez rose to prominence with a brilliant run of success as head of the national youth set-up. Victories at the 1999 Fifa World Youth Championship and the 2002 Uefa European Under-19 Championship made him the natural successor to Jose Antonio Camacho.
However, he has since attracted negative press after Greece forced Spain to qualify for Euro 2004 via the play-offs.
Despite the rumblings, the Spanish FA rewarded him for reaching the finals with a two-year contract extension.
As a player he won three caps for Spain and spent 12 successful years at Atletico Bilbao.
He started his coaching career at Bilbao and had stints at Las Palmas and Albacete Balompie before joining the Spanish set-up in 1996.
