The Germans have won their fair share of tournaments against the odds - Euro 96 most recently - so it's time to give someone else a chance!
They were as tough to play against as ever, almost causing an upset against Holland, but it proved a journey too far against the Czechs.
When it comes down to looking at their first-choice XI, you have to say they were distinctly lacking much, if any, star quality.
Some might say that's been their greatest asset in the past, but leaders like Oliver Kahn and Michael Ballack failed to ignite their side.
