Ivan Klasnic has forced his way into the reckoning for Croatia with his superb form for Werder Bremen. Klasnic was born in Hamburg, Germany, to Croatian parents and impressed as a striker for local side St Pauli.
He made the switch to Bremen in 2001 and finally made his mark in the first team in 2003 with some powerful performances in the Bundesliga.
Klasnic is strong in the air, pacy and has the knack of getting vital goals late on in matches.
His expiring contract caused a scramble for his signature at the beginning of the year before he eventually decided to stay at Bremen.
His international debut came against Germany in February 2004 and his form suggests he can make a real impact at the finals in Portugal.
Did you know? Klasnic turned down an invitation from Rudi Voeller to play for Germany in favour of Croatia.
