Experienced coach Otto Baric was appointed by Croatia after they failed to impress at the 2002 World Cup. Baric has had the tough job of finding replacements for former greats Alen Boksic and Robert Prosinceki.
His organised side is now packed with some very promising young players, although a bit short on experience.
Baric, who has caused controversy with his views on homosexuality, is fed up of his critics and plans to step down after Euro 2004.
He has Austrian citizenship and has previously coached their national side as well as Sturm Graz, Rapid Vienna, Stuttgart, Fenerbahce and Dinamo Zagreb.
Croatia's place in Portugal was only sealed with a 2-1 aggregate win over neighbours Slovenia in the play-offs.
Did you know? Baric banned Liverpool's Igor Biscan from the national side for failing to show up at a training camp.
