Many African teams are preparing for the final phase of 2010 World Cup qualifiers with friendly matches on Wednesday. BBC Sport's Durosimi Thomas looks ahead to some of the key fixtures.
NIGERIA v JAMAICA, LONDON
Amodu has led Nigeria to six wins from six in 2010 qualifying
This game is certain to attract a big crowd, given the large Jamaican and Nigerian communities living in London.
The John Barnes-coached Reggae Boyz are way below the Super Eagles in the world rankings, and Nigeria coach Shaibu Amodu has named a strong squad.
Chelsea's Jon Obi Mikel, Joseph Yobo of Everton and Portsmouth's Nwankwo Kanu are set to turn out.
Amodu has stressed he sees the game as a crucial part of his preparations for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, which begin in March.
TUNISIA v NETHERLANDS, RADES
Tunisia are in the same 2010 qualifying group as Nigeria, and they will have a real test against The Netherlands.
It will be the third meeting between the two teams, The Netherlands won the first 4-0 and they drew 2-2 in their last encounter 15 years ago.
Three newcomers are in the Tunisia squad - Esperance striker Walid Tayeb, defender Aymen Damai of German side Kaiserslautern and Fabien Bechir Camus, an attacker who plays for Charleroi in Belgium.
Coach Humberto Coelho has faced some criticism over his choice of players, and sections of the media are suggesting that he is still experimenting at a crucial time.
EGYPT v GHANA, CAIRO
Appiah is still without a club, after a long-term injury
Striker Mido will miss the game due to injury, but the African champions have recalled Mohamed Barakat and Mohamed Zidan.
Defender Habib Mohammed makes a return to the Ghana side after three years, but coach Milovan Rajevac's squad is hit with injuries to Dede Ayew, Samuel Inkoom, Agyemang Badu, Laryea Kingston and Matthew Amoah.
Stephen Appiah is in the squad and may well play a part, despite still being without a club.
SOUTH AFRICA v CHILE, POLOKWANE
South Africa are unbeaten in five matches, and Chile will provide a good test for the 2010 World Cup hosts.
Chile are ranked 30th in the world, 44 places above Bafana Bafana, and they defeated Argentina 1-0 in a 2010 World Cup qualifier last October in Santiago.
Striker Benni McCarthy is in the South Africa squad, while Free State Stars striker Sthembiso Ngcobo has been invited to replace the injured Steven Pienaar.
TURKEY v IVORY COAST, IZMIR
Three key Ivory Coast players have not made the trip to Izmir - strikers Bakary Kone and Yao Kouassi Gervais are injured, while goalkeeper Aristide Zogbo misses out because of an administrative problem.
Ibrahim Kone of French second division side Boulogne-sur-Mer was invited as a last minute replacement.
Recreativo Huelva striker Kanga Akale was not released by his Spanish club, but Chelsea's Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure of Barcelona, and the Arsenal pair of Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue are in the squad.
