Nigeria and Angola confident
Nigeria striker Nwankwo Kanu
Nwankwo Kanu says Nigeria can make it to the 2006 World Cup
Both Nigeria and Angola are confident that they can outdo the other and qualify from Group Four for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany.

The Super Eagles are top of the group with 13 points, just two ahead of the Angolans.

Nwankwo Kanu, who came on as a late substitute to inspire Nigeria to a 2-0 win over Gabon in Saturday's qualifier, says the victory was crucial.

"We can still qualify for the World Cup but if we had drawn instead of won against Gabon, it would have been very difficult," Kanu told BBC Sport.

"It doesn't matter how many goals we score, we just need to get three points from all our remaining games."

One of those remaining games is at home against Angola in June and Palancas Negras player Freddy knows how important that match could be.

"We can still make it to Germany if we can win all our games - especially the one against Nigeria," Freddy said after their 2-0 loss in Zimbabwe.

"We have proved that we have world-class players and the players with the experience to win all our remaining games."

While the top two look set to battle it out for the place in Germany, the four other sides are still hopeful of claiming a spot at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt next year.

Gabon captain Guy Roger Nzeng says that Egypt is his side's priority.

"We can still make it to the Cup of Nations but we must at least win our two home games to be in with a chance," he said.

Gabon are currently in fourth place, level on six points with Algeria and two ahead of bottom-placed Rwanda.

Zimbabwe are above Gabon with eight points, and these two meet in their next qualifier in early June.
