Senegal's Salif Diao rises to the challenge of Curkina Faso's Cisse

Senegal 0-0 Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso held Senegal to a goalless draw in their Group B African Cup of Nations match.

Wolves striker Henri Camara was guilty of missing two close-range efforts after being set up by Liverpool's El Hadji Diouf.

Burkina Faso's best chance fell to midfielder Rahim Ouedraogo who headed Amadou Toure's cross wide of the goal.

Senegal's next match is against Kenya on Friday while Burkina Faso are up against group leaders Mali.

When you miss so many chances, you can't expect to win
Senegal coach Guy Stephan
Senegal's experienced squad of European-based stars looked to have the better of Burkina Faso in the first half.

Burkina, even when in possession, seemed to run out of ideas.

Senegal attackers Diouf, Camara and Mamadou Niang combined well but their finishing was poor.

Camara and Niang came the closest for Senegal. Camara hit the post in the 53rd minute, while Niang's easy tap-in was cleared off the goal line.

Burkina Faso created fewer opportunities but there were anxious moments for the 2002 World Cup quarter-finalists.

Abdoulaye Cisse, with only Tony Sylva to beat, delayed his shot and was dispossessed by Salif Diao.

Ouedraogo's flying header from a free-kick on 27 minutes could have gone down as the most spectacular goal in the competition so far, but the ball rocketed over the bar.

It's an excellent result against a great team
Burkina Faso coach Jean-Paul Rabier
Burkina Faso however finished strongly with a clear late chance from Tanguy Barro.

As the final whistle approached the Stallions strengthened their defence and became more confident of their chances.

It had started as a boys against men affair with the Burkinabes chasing the ball, while Senegal ran all over them in the wings.

It ended with red faces for the more-fancied Senagalese Lions.
