Sarwan took over from Brian Lara after the World Cup |
Ramnaresh Sarwan said he "couldn't have asked for a better start as captain" after drawing his first Test in charge against England at Lord's. "We haven't had a lot of practice and there was a lot of doubt as to whether we'd be able to draw," said Sarwan.
"We stayed confident and tried to help each other as much as we could. The guys really worked hard in the run-up.
"To draw the first Test was very important, it will give us a lot of confidence going into the second Test."
Sarwan, who took over the captaincy following Brian Lara's retirement after the World Cup, said he enjoyed his first taste as skipper.
"It was good fun. I was a bit nervous for the first two overs but after that I was fine and I had the full support of the guys and that helped me.
"We didn't bowl that well in the first session but that was because we were a bit rusty, but we bowled well after lunch and batted excellent.
"We've got a couple of days until the next match and it's important that we're purposeful and work on technical flaws. Hopefully we'll be able to put on a better performance."
