Scotland skipper Wright took Ricky Ponting's wicket |
Scotland captain Craig Wright reflected on a poor batting display after the huge World Cup defeat to Australia. Colin Smith made 51 but Scotland could only manage 131 as they went down by 203 runs in St Kitts.
"The last five overs of their innings and the first 10 of our innings really killed us," said Wright.
"Colin played well, so we can take some credit there. But our batting did not start well - and that put us on the back foot straight away."
Wright was, however, happy with his bowlers despite Australia racking up a mammoth 334-6 in their Group A encounter.
Australia were 274-5 in the 46th over, but 40 from 15 balls from Brad Hogg and 18 from from Shane Watson put them out of sight.
"We did well on a small ground with a quick outfield against some top-class batting," said Wright, who took 1-58 and scored four.
Scotland face South Africa next Tuesday before a match-up against fellow minnows the Netherlands two days later.
