Chamara Kapugedera struck an assured 67 as Sri Lanka earned a comfortable six-wicket one-day win over Pakistan to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Kapugedera put on 95 in an unbeaten stand with Thilan Samaraweera (38) as the hosts easily overhauled Pakistan's total of 168 with six overs to spare.

The tourists were once again let down by an indifferent batting display as Thilan Thushara took 3-33 in Dambulla.

Seamer and number 10 Mohammad Aamer was Pakistan's top scorer with 24 not out.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara elected to bowl first and saw Pakistan opener Nasir Jamshed caught at slip with the first ball of the match from Nuwan Kulasekera.

Wickets continued to fall as Pakistan struggled to contain the hosts' bowling attack, with Thushara, who took 3-29 in the 36-run win on Thursday, once again impressing with the ball.

Only a late rally from Aamer and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal - who put on 40 for the last wicket - took Pakistan to 168.

Sri Lanka made a confident start as opener Sanath Jayasuriya struck a rapid 30 in 33 balls.

But the loss of two wickets in quick succession - including Sangakkara, run out for two - saw the hosts teetering at 44-3.

Pakistan made further inroads when ex-skipper Mahela Jayawardene was caught by Younus Khan for 12 at 74-4.

But Kapugedara and Samaraweera played with intelligence as they chased down the remaining runs with 38 balls to spare.

Kapugedara's 97-ball innings featured eight boundaries and a six while Samaraweera took 69 balls, hitting two boundaries in the process.
