Sri Lanka dominate poor Pakistan

Second Test, Colombo (day one):
Pakistan 90 v Sri Lanka 164-3
Match scorecard

Nuwan Kulasekara
Kulasekara picked up wickets in three successive overs.

Sri Lanka seized control of the second Test against Pakistan as the tourists produced a poor batting display on day one in Colombo.

Nuwan Kulasekara claimed figures of 4-21 and Ajantha Mendis 3-20 as Pakistan were all out for only 90.

Kumar Sangakkara then hammered home Sri Lanka's advantage with an unbeaten 81.

Saeed Ajmal claimed two wickets in the final session but the damage had already been done as Sri Lanka reached 164-3 by stumps, a lead of 74 runs.

Thilan Samaraweera will rejoin Sangakkara on 13 in a fourth-wicket partnership so far worth 31 after a confident start from openers Malinda Warnapura (11) and Tharanga Paranavitana (26).

what's that coming over the hill? is it nemanja....is it nemanja?

However, Umar Gul soon secured a leg before decision against Warnapura, while Paranavitana bottom-edged an Ajmal delivery into the gloves of Kamran Akmal.

Sri Lanka were already well past Pakistan's total when Mahela Jayawardene was neatly held by Khurram Manzoor at short leg.

Earlier Kulasekara, the top-ranked bowler in one-day internationals, picked up the wicket of Khurram Manzoor and when captain Younus Khan fell to Thilan Thushara, Pakistan were struggling on 6-2.

It was a position from which they failed to recover, Shoaib Malik's unbeaten 39 the highlight of the tourists' innings.
