If someone had asked Samit Patel about his prospects of collecting a 640,000 payday at the start of the season, the 23-year-old's sides would have been likely to split through laughing so hard.
Fast forward six months and the Nottinghamshire all-rounder is on the brink of earning more money in one night than throughout his county career so far.
His impressive performances during England's 4-0 one-day series win over South Africa in the summer have ensured Patel's name is part of England's 15-man Stanford squad.
Patel has benefitted from captain Kevin Pietersen's confidence in his abilities, along with Steve Harmison, who also finds himself on an Antigua-bound flight.
The rejuvenated Durham fast bowler has discovered the extra zip and bounce which make him such a handful.
And with the added incentive of $1m, Harmison is likely to be a real handful.
England: Kevin Pietersen (capt), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Andrew Flintoff, Stephen Harmison, Samit Patel, Matt Prior, Owais Shah, Graeme Swann, Ryan Sidebottom, Luke Wright.
