FIFTH ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAL, Jaipur:
Pakistan 306-6 (50 overs) bt India 275 all out (49.5 overs)Shoaib Malik produced a fine all-round display to inspire his side to a 31-run win as Pakistan salvaged some pride from their 3-2 series defeat in India.
Malik fired 89 off just 82 balls as he and Mohammad Yousuf shared a record fourth-wicket stand against India of 168 in helping Pakistan to 306-6.
India always looked like struggling after Sohail Tanvir took 3-42 early on.
Yuvraj Singh (50) and Rohit Sharma (52) provided some resistance, but Malik (3-61) helped bowl them out for 275.

INDIA INNINGS
50th over - WICKET - Pathan b Tanvir 44 - Ind 275 all out
It's not going to happen, funnily enough, as Pathan can only manage a couple from the first ball from Tanvir. Tanvir sends down a slower ball which bamboozles Pathan and Pathan is only able to squirt the third ball away for one. And that's that folks, Tanvir uprooting Pathan's off-peg with a well-directed yorker. Good, morale-boosting win for Pakistan, but India take the series 3-2. The next live commentary will be on the first day of the first Test between England and Sri Lanka on Saturday 1 December and Mark Mitchener will be at the helm... "A quick scan of today's commentary suggests you've talked about vegetables twice, fruit once, and only said 'nurdle' once. Bad day at the office, as they say - sure you'll be back on form soon enough."
Paul, Lancs, in the TMS inbox
49th over - 271-9 Santh still giving it a go and he collects four runs for an inside-edge. That's now his highest score in ODIs - nine. However, he's unable to get any of the last three balls of the over away and Pathan now has to hit six sixes from the final over...that's a pretty big ask...
48th over - 266-7 Santh hanging around and he picks up a single. Pathan adds one more to the total before slashing Gul through the covers for four. Tanvir misfields and allows Santh two runs. Ten from that over, but India need 41 from just two overs.
47th over - 256-9 Two dot balls before Pathan launches a dirty great three wood over mid-wicket for six to bring up the India 250. One more single apiece to Pathan and Santh and another couple for Pathan and that's 10 from the over.
46th over - 246-9 India now need more than 12 an over. Pathan can only manage one from that one.
45th over - WICKET - Kartik c Nazir b Iftikhar 16 - Ind 238-9
Kartik picks up a couple with an off-drive, but he's gone next ball, backing away and skewing a dolly of a catch to Nazir at backward-point. Sree Santh is the new batsman and he's under way with a nurdle to leg for one. Iftikhar serves up some chin music and Pathan has a go at it, crashing it into the square-leg fence. Pathan digs out a yorker and collects one run. "I've just figured that this may be my best chance ever to get a message put up. Clearly Sporty Spice took advantage of her name and kept herself in good shape while all the other spices couldn't make use of theirs - Baby grew up, Ginger went blonde, Scary now has straight hair and Posh married David Beckham!"
Stephen F, London, in the TMS inbox
44th over - 236-8 Pathan carves Gul to third-man for one before Kartik shows some class, coming down the track before adjusting and upper-cutting Gul for four. Four more for Kartik with a thick inside-edge. Useful from Kartik.
43rd over - 224-8 Tanvir to continue and Kartik whirls him through the covers for one. Pathan picks up one run to long-off and this is all a bit dull to be honest, there's only one winner here...
"Well Paul (formerly of Barnehurst), I'm wishing I was back in my 30s let alone 20s! I'll bet that as you were a DJ then you got the pick of the girls then anyway. Boo hoo."

42nd over - WICKET - Kumar c Tanvir b Malik 12 - Ind 214-8
Good little cameo from debutant Kumar, but he's out chipping Malik to Tanvir at mid-wicket. India very nearly dead. Kartik is the new batsman and he's off the mark with a single to point. Pathan nicks one with a carve to extra-cover and he follows up with a boundary from a thick outside-edge. Malik finishes with figures of 3-61, which should secure him the man-of-the-match award. 41st over - 214-7 Alam gives it some air and Kumar lashes him to the long-on boundary, where it's misfielded and India pick up four. Kumar picks up two more with a thick outside-edge over point and another single with a straight drive.
40th over - 207-7 Kumar works Malik to long-on for a single, and India pick up one more for an overthrow. One more for Kumar with a nudge into the off-side and Pathan latches onto a long-hop and crashes Malik through point for four.
39th over - 200-7 Kumar picks up his first run in international cricket with a nudge down the ground. Sorry folks, I've just realised I missed an over...ooops...not that anyone's reading...Hello? Hello? Two more singles from Alam's over, that's the India 200...
37th over - WICKET - Dhoni c Nazir b Malik 24 - Ind 195-7
Dhoni, his ankle showing no ill-effects, comes down the track and inside-edges past Sarfraz for a couple. Dhoni collects one more with a punch to long-off and Pathan, new at the crease, is off the mark with a steer to mid-off for one. But that's the seventh wicket down, Dhoni flailing across the line, top-edging and Nazir taking a comfortable catch at mid-wicket. Pakistan all over India now, and we now have the peculiar prospect of the team losing the toss winning every match in the series. One more for Pathan and Kumar survives the over. 36th over - WICKET - Yuvraj c Sarfraz b Gul 50 - Ind 188-6
Dhoni plays and misses twice to Gul but shows immense power in latching onto a short one and clubbing the ball to the wide long-on boundary. Dhoni stays back and punches into the off-side for one, but he's done himself a mischief turning for a second. Dhoni's milking this little incident - the physio is on and he's strapping on an ankle brace, hopefully he'll be up and about in a minute...Sehwag is on as a runner - I've got to be honest, if I had to have a runner for my life, Sehwag would be pretty low on my list. Yuvraj is gone, and it's not a great decision from Umpire Shastri, that looked to clip his shoulder rather than his bat. Yuvraj hangs about for a while and taps his shoulder - he can expect a hefty fine in the post... 35th over - Can someone please tell me how Sporty Spice became the best-looking member of the Spice Girls? It's like leaving the country for a few years and returning to find that Mark Ealham is the most talented cricketer in England. Two singles and a wide from Tanvir's first three balls before Yuvraj brings up his fifty with a nurdle into the leg-side. That's his 34th ODI half-century. Dhoni adds a couple to the total with a clip to deep square-leg and he keeps the strike with a nudge into the off-side. "Crikey! Here I am freezing my KPs off in a -10 Russia thinking of home and reading up on the action only to read 'Zens' and 'Hickory's'! How about the Falcon (at Falconwood) on Fri/Sat nights? And the Dutch House on a Sunday? I have done some DJ-ing at those! Thanks for the memories..."
Paul, formerly from Barnehurst, wishing I was in my twenties, in the TMS inbox
34th over - 176-5 Dhoni tucks Malik away for one and Yuvraj bags a single with a mis-timed drive into the off-side. Dhoni keeps the strike with a bottom-handed club to long-off. India require 131 from 96 balls. Do-able, but it's a big ask.
33rd over - 172-5 That's a big moment for India - Yuvraj advances down the pitch to Alam, misses and is very nearly stumped by Sarfraz. However, Yuvraj manages to spin round and get his bat down before the bails are dislodged. And that's how to rub someone's nose in it - Yuvraj absolutely jamspangles Alam over mid-wicket for a colossal maximum. Nasty. Yuvraj rotates the strike with a single before Dhoni is very nearly cleaned up by a shooter. Dhoni keeps the strike with a single from the final ball of the over.
32nd over - 164-5 Four for Yuvraj, trotting down the track and chipping Malik over mid-wicket for four. One more for Yuvraj and he keeps the strike.
31st over - 158-5 Dhoni rocks back and marmalises Alam, baseball style, to long-off for one. Yuvraj gives the strike back to Dhoni and the India skipper collects one with a flick to leg. Two more singles and Indian still in the race.
30th over - 153-5 Dhoni picks up one run with a tuck to leg and Yuvraj collects another with an ease down the ground. Dhoni bags another with a push to long-off and there are two more singles from the over. Girls Aloud are on ITV, I'd highly recommend it.
29th over - 148-5 Dhoni is the new batsman and he's off the mark immediately with a clip to long-on. Four more singles and someone has noticed that Dhoni is wearing Uthappa's jumper, which is just about the most uninteresting thing anyone has ever pointed out to me. Saying that, if you could wear anyone's jumper in the whole world, whose would it be?
28th over - WICKET - Sharma c Hameed b Malik 52 - Ind 143-5
Doozy of a straight drive for four from Yuvraj and these Pakistani spinners are clearly having problems handling this dewy ball. Malik spears a wide down leg, but Sharma's gone, chipping Malik straight to Hameed at long-on. Bit soft that, Pakistan red hot favourites from here. 27th over - 136-4 One run for Yuvraj before Sharma misses out on a full-bunger outside off - just one for the shot. That's Sharma's fifty from 58 balls courtesy of a savage cut for four. Good knock that, Sharma looks like a pretty handy player. 26th over - 128-4 Malik gives it some air and Sharma walks outside off and chips him over mid-wicket for four. Sharma whips Malik to long-on for one and Yuvraj turns the Pakistan skipper to leg for another single. Sharma paddles round the corner for a couple and there are two more singles from the over. Pakistan could do with another wicket here.
"Aaah, in my post-lunch somnambulant state, I let my mind wander contently over the many mysteries of the world, like, 'why do all dustbins smell the same?' when an earth-shattering thought occurred to me: I suddenly realised I have NEVER been to Essex! What does that say about me?"
Carole, Maidenhead, in the TMS inbox
25th over - 118-4 Two singles from the first ball of Alam's over and Sharma nabs a couple with a chip over mid-wicket. Three more singles from the final three balls of the over.
24th over - 111-4 Sharma works Malik to long-on for one before Yuvraj picks up a couple. Yuvraj collects one more with a glide to third-man. After 24 overs, Pakistan were 111-3, so India are by no means out of this. One more for Sharma to long-on.
23rd over - 105-4 This Indian pair happy to deal in singles for the moment - five from the over. More interestingly, I'm a huge fan of corn on the cob, but as soon as any corn falls off the cob and onto my plate, I can't eat it. Anyone else have any weird eating habits?
22nd over - 100-4 Shoaib Malik makes it a twin spin attack - a phrase to make any e-commentator shudder - and four singles bring up the Indian 100. Thrilling stuff.
21st over - 96-4 Fawad Alam will turn his arm over now, which might please Yuvraj who is still feeling the effects of that blow on the helmet from Iftikhar earlier. It's tidy enough from the left-armer, three singles coming off the over, and India will have to up the pace sooner rather than later, you feel.
20th over - 93-4 Sharma glides Gul to third-man for a single and Yuvraj grabs one with a turn to mid-wicket. Shoddy fielding from Pakistan allows Sharma to scamper two - two men swooped and neither was able to pick the ball up cleanly.
19th over - 89-4 Iftikhar has got his dander up and he rattles Yuvraj's helmet with a nasty lifter. Yuvraj shakes it off with the minimum of fuss. Yuvraj picks up a single with a tuck to square-leg before Sharma carves the final ball of the over to point for one run.
18th over - 87-4 Yuvraj tucks Gul to leg for one and Sharma picks up a couple with a clip to mid-wicket.
17th over - 84-4 Four for Yuvraj courtesy of a thick inside-edge, but that's more convincing from Yuvraj, walking to leg and playing a savage inside-out cover-drive for six. Peche de la peche. Not a bad over from Iftikhar, but that's 11 from it.
"Yes quite agree, she must be some looker. I remember those Zen's girls (see below) - so much better than those at Hickorys in Swanley."
Sanjay Sharma in the TMS inbox
16th over - 73-4 Sharma opens the face and picks up one to third-man. One more leg-bye. It's like the Ryder Cup in our office now - every now and again a big cheer goes up from a different part as the cameraman homes in on a new Indian beauty. There are lots of men in my office. I didn't think it was possible, but he's just found one that trumped the lady from the previous over. Sensational.
15th over - 71-4 Crash, bang, wallop what a cut shot! Iftikhar drops short and Sharma crashes him to the point fence. Wristy from Sharma, guiding Iftikhar to short third-man for one. The cameraman has taken something of a shine to possibly the best-looking woman I've ever seen in the crowd. And I've been to Zens in Dartford.
14th over - 66-4 A lazy old waft from Sharma and he's beaten by Tanvir outside off-stump. Sharma has another flash and again misses - Yuvraj needs to have a word and tell him to knuckle down. Sharma does pick up a single with a skew to point.
13th over - 64-4 Sharma waits on an Iftikhar delivery and glides it to third-man for one. A bit of spite from Iftikhar, who gets Yuvraj hopping with a lifter. I need to point Percy, I'm shuffling around in my seat like a seven-year-old.
12th over - WICKET - Sehwag c Sarfraz b Tanvir 10 - Ind 62-4
Another wicket for Tanvir and we could be in for an early night, which my mum will be happy about, she hates me getting trains back to Romford late at night. Not clever that from Sehwag, reaching for a wide one and feathering a catch to Sarfraz behind the stumps. Yuvraj is the new man in the middle. 11th over - 62-3 Sehwag is scythed in half by a ball that arcs back in from Iftikhar and Sarfraz makes a fine stop behind the stumps diving to his left. Sehwag picks up one with a clip off his legs before new batsman Rohit Sharma gets under way with a chop to point for a couple. Two more for Sharma from the final ball of the over. I see Wispas are back on sale! Mehmet from my local newsagent reckons everyone's asking for them, but apparently the cash and carry keeps on running out. I always regarded them as a poor man's Aero to be honest.
10th over - WICKET - Tendulkar c Misbah b Tanvir 30 - Ind 57-3
Talk of Tendulkar's demise was clearly very wide of the mark - he's in some seriously good nick. He piles into a ball wide of off-stump and sends it racing through cover for four. That's too straight from Tanvir and Tendulkar whips him away for another four through mid-wicket. Two singles for India before Sachin flashes Tanvir through point for the third four of the over. BUT THE LITTLE MASTER IS NO MORE! He tries to take one liberty too many and edges to Misbah at slip. I've only gone and cursed him again...sorry India fans... 9th over - 43-2 Sehwag guides Iftikhar to third-man for a single before Tendulkar shows him the maker's name and picks up three runs straight down the ground. Dale Steyn is ripping through New Zealand in the second Test against the Kiwis at Centurion - nine wickets so far in the match and 19 in the two-match series. Proper cricket...
"Right, no-one mention Tendulkar's score - by all means comment on his greatness, and hopefully he'll get to 100 today!"
Pritesh, Uxbridge, in the TMS inbox
8th over - 39-2 A single for Tendulkar, angling a drive to third-man. Sehwag is off the mark with a clip to mid-wicket for a couple and he moves to six with an uppish, sliced drive through backward-point for four. You don't bowl there to Tendulkar - the Little Master clips Tanvir through square-leg for four. Surgical.
7th over - WICKET - Uthappa c Misbah b Iftikhar 1 - Ind 26-2
Iftikhar is into the attack and he should have had Uthappa back in the hutch with his second ball, but Misbah shells an absolute sitter at wide first slip. But that's Uthappa gone two balls later, driving loosely and Misbah making amends with a solid pouch falling down to his right. Sehwag sees out the final two balls of the over. 6th over - 26-1 Tanvir serves up a wide outside Uthappa's off-peg before Uthappa runs him away to third-man for a single.
5th over - 24-1Sarah Canterbury, I'm not going to be on the first Test, I will be 'avin it, I repeat 'avin it, in Paris that weekend. Holy mother of KP, I'm excited about it...Tendulkar backs away and carves Gul through point for four. Smashing shot that. And that's even better, Tendulkar standing tall and steering Gul through point for another boundary. Tendulkar on for another 90-odd?
4th over - WICKET - Gambhir lbw b Tanvir 12 - Ind 15-1
Crackerjack stroke from Gambhir, flicking Tanvir one bounce into the mid-wicket fence. Gambhir very nearly plays on before Tanvir does get his man, plumb lbw. Bit of extra pace and movement did for Gambhir there. Robin Uthappa is the new batsman and he sees out the over. "Ok Ben, as it's so quiet, we could chat about how we're going to spend our birthday...will you be commentating on the first day of the Test or partying hard elsewhere? I'm still pondering my options..."
Sarah, Canterbury, in the TMS inbox
3rd over - 10-0 Thank you Anasuya (see below), I appreciate your quite chilling honesty. I'm pretty sure Fordyce is shacked up, but you never know with that boy. Tendulkar bags one with a punch to point before Gambhir has another bit of luck, fending at a sharpish delivery from Gul and the ball ballooning over the slip cordon. One run. Tendulkar plays and misses outside off-stump and the Pakistan bowlers are making things uncomfortable.
"Dear Mr Dirs, Allow me to compliment you on your superlative coverage of the Rugby World Cup. But I have to say Mr Fordyce is the better looking of you two. Is he single?"
Anasuya in the TMS inbox
2nd over - 8-0 Tanvir very nearly cleans Gambhir up with a ball that nips back off the seam, but Gambhir picks up the first four of the innings next ball, whirling his wrists and watching the ball disappear over the fence at backward-point. Tanvir, who bowls off the wrong foot, serves up a wide outside Gambhir's off-peg and that's the over.
1st over - 3-0 Players are back out and Gambhir is off the mark with an unconvincing upper-cut for a couple. A risky second, Gambhir having to dive full length to make his ground. One more for Gambhir brings Tendulkar onto strike. He misses out on a run with a clip to square-leg before missing out with an airy attempted cut. WHERE THE RUDDY HECK HAS EVERYONE GONE?
PAKISTAN INNINGS
50th over - 306-6 That's the Pakistan 300, Sohail Tanvir digging out a yorker for one. Alam chips over mid-off for a single and Tanvir bags another one to give the strike back to the free-scoring Alam. The little left-hander chips to mid-wicket for another single and Tanvir nicks two from the final ball - Kumar should have run him out at the non-striker's end, but fumbled.
49th over - WICKET - Misbah c & b Pathan 22 - Pak 299-6
Alam charges Pathan and carts him to long-on for two. Didn't quite time that. One more single for Alam and Misbah picks up one with a crude heave to deep square-leg. Alam gives it some serious tap for a small man and he smashes Pathan for a flat six over long-on. One more for Alam, although MIsbah feels they could have had two. And that's Misbah gone, toe-ending an attepted pull and Pathan backing up and taking a fine caught and bowled. 48th over - 288-5 Cracking shot from Alam, whipping Kumar over mid-wicket for four. Two more singles before Kumar over-steps and Pakistan get a free hit, which Alam heaves to long-on for a couple. Two more singles for Alam and one for Misbah. A target of 300 should definitely be on now.
47th over - 275-5 Alam gives Pathan the charge and swings him over cow corner for four. A single apiece for Alam and Misbah and Pathan is keeping his head, pitching it up, varying his pace and still asking questions at the death.
46th over - 269-5 Misbah clips Kumar to long-off for one before India think they've got Alam leg before, but Umpire Shastri reckons it was missing leg. Alam and Misbah exchange singles before Alam steals the strike with a punch straight down the ground.
"There was an inevitability about that, wasn't there?! I'm sure all Pakistan fans are loving what you just did to Malik!!"
Sarah, Canterbury, in the TMS inbox
45th over - 265-5 Misbah deflects Kartik to fine-leg for one before Kartik slings down a wide down leg-side. Fawad Alam is the new batter and he's under way with a nurdle to long-on.
44th over - WICKET - Yousuf st Dhoni b Yuvraj 74 - Pak 261-5
That's a big fella from Misbah, getting down on one knee and thrashing Yuvraj over long-on for a maximum. Four more for a reverse sweep, but that's Yousuf back in the pavilion, reaching for a wide one and Dhoni showing light fingers again behind the timbers. 43rd over - WICKET - Malik st Dhoni b Kartik 89 - Pak 245-4
Malik is outfoxed by Kartik and the Pakistan skipper falls short of what would have been a well-deserved ton. Kartik saw Malik coming, managed to turn a quicker one past his defences and Dhoni whipped off the bails with Malik several feet out of his crease. Misbah is the new batsman and he's off the mark with a single first ball. The batsmen exchange ones and that wicket could have scuppered any chance Pakistan has of reaching 300. 42nd over - 243-3 Santh over-pitches and is eased through the covers for four by Malik. Good knock this from Malik, he now has his highest score as Pakistan skipper, 87. Two for Yousuf with a well-placed drive to long-off and he bags another one with a tuck to leg. That's now the record fourth-wicket partnership for Pakistan against India, beating the previous partnership of 163. Three more singles from the over and Pakistan are on for 300 here.
41st over - 231-3 Yousuf laces Yuvraj through the covers for one before Malik comes over all macho, crunching a short ball from Yuvraj to the mid-wicket fence. Three more singles from the over, interspersed with a decent yorker that Yousuf does well to dig out.
40th over - 225-3 Yousuf misses with a windy woosh outside off-stump but makes up for it next ball, slashing Santh through point for four. One more for Yousuf with a glide to third-man, but Santh retaliates, shaping one away from a groping Malik. Frustration for Santh, getting one to hurry Malik, but the ball landing safely down at third-man. One for the shot.
39th over - 218-3 Fine bit of fielding from Gambhir, diving full stretch and saving four down at fine-leg. Yousuf picks up three. Too full from Kartik and Malik darts out of his crease and whips him through wide long-on for four.
38th over - 209-3 Yousuf drives Yuvraj to long-on for one and Malik tickles a leg-side delivery to the long-leg fence for four. Malik clips Yuvraj to long-on for a single before Yousuf gets another life, top-edging a pull, but the ball landing in no-man's land and Pakistan picking up a couple of runs.
37th over - 200-3 Yousuf clips Kartik to long-on for one before Malik collects two for a lofted drive to long-off. One more for Malik and Yousuf, who brings up his fifty with a drive through the covers. Buoyed by the milestone, Yousuf then crashes Kartik over wide long-on for his second maximum of the match. That's also Pakistan's 200. Carole, Maidenhead, I would go for roast potatoes, carrots, swede, cabbage and, the king of vegetables, parsnips (I always eat my parsnips last). I have no idea what caraway seeds are. "Ben, as you're so bored, would you care to choose the vegetables to go with the chicken which has just gone in the oven? You have a choice of parsnips, carrots, swede, celeriac, Brussels, peas, cabbage - and spuds of course. I was thinking roast spuds, parsnips and carrots, mashed swede smothered in butter and black pepper, with cabbage in caraway seeds. Any suggestions?"
Carole, Maidenhead, in the TMS inbox
36th over - 189-3 The sight of an extremely attractive Indian lady adjusting her top has caused a bigger stir on my desk than pretty much anything else that has happened in this game so far. Yousuf strokes Pathan through point for one before Malik stands tall and chops Pathan for a couple down to third-man. Malik and Yousuf exchange singles and Malik pouches two more with a steer to backward-point.
"I've just woken up and realised I'm supposed to be at work in less than half an hour. Can I just say that Keano would crush Jonny Wilkinson...probably by playing dirty, but he'd still win."

35th over - 182-3 Kumar is back on and Yousuf dabs him to third-man for one. Malik clips to mid-wicket for a single before Yousuf nudges Kumar to cover-point for one. Malik gets some luck next ball, top-edging a hook, only for the ball to land way beyond the reach of wicket-keeper Dhoni. Two runs for the shot.
34th over - 177-3 Pathan is back into the attack and Malik deflects him off his hip for a couple. And that's Malik's fifty, from 56 balls, courtesy of a drive into the covers for one. "Only one (well two) words to say on Marmite-likened fruit - 'jack fruit'. I love it as and when I can get it, but its texture does make some people feel like they're eating a mix of coarse sand and jellyfish. First had it on a business trip to Bangalore, when I used to do that kind of thing. Is tha utterlut cricket-obsessed bloke (Rajan?) still hanging around the garden of the Hotel Victoria?"

33rd over - 169-3 Yousuf sweeps to deep backward square-leg for one and Malik works Yuvraj to mid-wicket for another. Another nurdled single from Yousuf before Yuvraj spears five wides down Malik's leg-side. One more wide from Yuvraj and a steer to cover for one from Yousuf. Twenty-two from the last two overs. Interesting chat in the office - some clown reckons the strawberry is the best fruit, when anyone who's got anything about them knows the mango is the Godfather of all fruits. "The papaya is the Marmite of the fruit world," says Pranav...I think at this particular moment in time I'd rather be suffering from a bad case of the flu than watching this match.
"Oh dear, you just don't seem to be in the mood for this cricket lark this morning! So what happened, didn't any of your chat up lines work last night!!!"

32nd over - 159-3 Pakistan flick the switch at last. Two singles from the first two balls of Sehwag's over before Malik dumps the bowler over the mid-wicket boundary. Malik picks up two more with a drive into the covers and there are two more singles to make it 12 from the over.
31st over - 147-3 Just two singles from Yuvraj's over, and India think they've got Yousuf plumb in front, but Umpire Doctrove decides it was...actually, not sure what he thought the ball was doing, it looked like it was ripping out middle stump to me.
30th over - 145-3 Two singles apiece for Malik and Yousuf before Malik plays an inside-out lofted drive over cover for a couple. Yuvraj gets one hand to it on the leap, but it doesn't stick. Malik rubs Indian noses in it, leaning back and crashing Kartik through the covers for four.
29th over - 135-3 Yuvraj is wheeled into the attack and his frist two deliveries are wides. Malik picks up one with a single to long-on and Yousuf bags a brace with a lofted drive over mid-wicket. The consensus on Sky is that Jaipur is "colourful". We're so bored in the office that we're now seeing if we can remember any Johnny Hates Jazz singles without recourse to google.
28th over - 130-3 Malik clips Kartik through the covers for one and Yousuf picks up a single to the same area. That's the 50 partnership courtesy of a clip to long-on from Malik and Yousuf pouches two with a work to mid-wicket.
27th over - 125-3 Singles from the first five balls of Sehwag's over, this is to sport what Johnny Hates Jazz are to music.
26th over - 119-3 Yousuf shovels Kartik into the off-side for one and Malik picks up a single with a similar stroke. Yousuf nicks the strike with a single and I think I can safely say this isn't the most thrilling day of my life so far.
25th over - 115-3 We're into those "challenging" middle overs...just three from that one, Pakistan content to nudge and nurdle. Lots of famous people in today. I've no idea who any of them are, but the cameraman keeps on picking them out and they're very beautiful. Jaipur must be like the Basildon of the East...
24th over - 111-3 Malik gently pats Kartik into the covers for one before Yousuf gives it some hammer, swinging Kartik over mid-wicket for four. Pritesh, Uxbridge has just pointed out that Shahrukh Khan is in fact more like the Tom Cruise of Bollywood than the Ross Kemp.
23rd over - 106-3 Sehwag now into the attack and Yousuf works him to leg for a single. Three more singles from the over, and Yousuf is very nearly run out, but Sehwag wasn't in position behind the stumps at the non-striker's end.
22nd over - 102-3 That's the Pakistan ton, Yousuf nudging a single to leg, and Malik steals the strike with an ease to mid-wicket. Sorry, no he doesn't, Yousuf picks up one more from the final ball of the over. A better, more controlled over from Kartik.
21st over - 99-3 Malik nicks a single with a punch into the covers before Santh lets rip with some histrionics, making to shy at Yousuf's stumps, much to the batsman's amusement. Yousuf shuffles across his stumps and works Santh through mid-wicket for three next ball, and has a little chuckle to himself as he passes Santh in the middle of the track. Santh's final ball is a rank long-hop and Malik blazes him through point for four.
20th over - 91-3 Kartik is into the attack and he's hoicked through mid-wicket for four by Yousuf. One more single apiece for Malik and Yousuf and there are six runs from the over.
19th over - 85-3 Younus scampers a single before Santh finds the edge of Malik's bat, but soft hands ensure the ball goes to ground and runs away for a couple. Another colleague has just shoved his mobile phone in front of my face and shown me a couple of "interesting" text messages from a lady friend of his. It's easily the most exciting thing that's happened to me this morning, and possibly for a week or so. Some chap called Shahrukh Khan is being interviewed on Sky. Apparently he's a big shot in Bollywood, sort of like an Indian Ross Kemp.
"Re Sarah from Canterbury's post: her comment is worthless unless we are able to see pics of her 'petite' jacksie."

18th over - 82-3 Pathan strays onto Malik's pads and is worked away for a couple.
17th over - WICKET - Nazir c & b Santh 20 - Pak 77-3
That's Nazir gone, slapping a catch straight back to Santh - slower ball, I think, and a pretty sharp take. I've got to be honest, I don't think he's much cop as a player, it's like someone's super-glued his feet to the pitch. Pakistan skipper Malik is off the mark with a clip off his pads for two. Whoa there Sarah Canterbury (see below) - I didn't drag myself out of bed at 6am on a Sunday in order for you to cast aspersions over the size of my jacksie in front of literally 34 other readers. I am as God made me, madam... 16th over - 76-2 Nazir picks up a quick single with a whip to leg before Yousuf gets going with a crisp square-cut for four. One more for Yousuf with a glide to backward-point before Pathan has a strangled lbw appeal against Nazir turned down by Umpire Shastri - it hit him outside the line of off.
"Hey, we could play how many of us currently listening could fit in a mini. I'm a little concerned about the size of your bum, Ben, but I'm quite petite so should compensate for that..."

15th over - WICKET - Hameed c Dhoni b Santh 1 - Pak 70-2
Hameed's stay at the crease is a short one as he feathers a lifter from Santh to Dhoni behind the timbers. Airy-fairy stroke from Hameed and he's not a happy-chappy as he trudges from the pitch. He looks like a man who has been dumped by his girlfriend minutes after buying her dinner. Santh welcomes Yousuf to the middle with a bumper, but the Bearded Wonder ducks underneath. 14th over - 70-1 New batsman Yasir Hameed is off the mark with a glide to third-man for one. And that's four leg-byes, Pathan straying onto Nazir's pads and the ball running away to the long-leg fence.
"Tee hee! So you're feeling a tad lonely on this Sunday morning?! I'm here, loyal, hanging on your every sentence as usual...mindful that my evidently rubbish emails were spurned on Thursday...most amusing!"

13th over - WICKET - Butt c Sharma b Santh 36 - Pak 65-1
Santh is back into the attack and he's only gone and made the ruddy breakthrough, getting one to rise on Butt and force a top-edged hook which Sharma snaffles comfortably at mid-wicket. "Huh? Who's there? Get out of my bedroom. What do you think you're...oh, oh , sorry. Er, morning Ben..."

12th over - 64-0 Butt gets a single courtesy of a thick outside edge. Pathan strays onto Nazir's legs and is clipped away for one before Butt slaps Pathan wristily through the covers for four.
11th over - 57-0 Kumar looks to be tiring a little and a short ball outside off is whip-cracked through point for four by Nazir. And that's Pakistan's fifty, another short one from Kumar marmalised over backward-point for another four. Kumar losing it completely and that's another boundary, the ball deflecting off Nazir's thigh and dribbling to the third-man fence.
10th over - 45-0 A single apiece for Butt and Nazir before Butt unveils a crackerjack off-drive that races away for four. Good shot that...
9th over - 39-0 Butt picks up a couple with a leading edge to cover before Kumar serves up his first loose delivery of the morning, a long-hop outside off that is larruped through cover-point for four by Butt. Nazir nicks the strike with a sharp single. Myself and some mates had an old-school row down the pub the other day - who would win in a fight between Roy Keane and Jonny Wilkinson? Astonishingly, it was me and one other person going for Keane, everyone else plumping for Wilko...eejits...Keano would murder him, probably literally...
8th over - 32-0 On comes Pathan and his first ball is a full-bunger which Butt fails to put away. That's a sweet stroke from Butt, whipping an over-pitched ball from Pathan through mid-wicket for four. One more for Butt with a scampered single and he retains the strike. A solid, if unspectacular, start from the visitors.
"If you're feeling unwanted, let me tell you I'm the other bloke reading what you're writing at the moment. The dozing finished ages ago and the loved one has gone out, so I'm just sitting here surfing while it rods it down outside. There would be very serious dew problems playing anywhere near here this morning."

7th over - 27-0 Kumar finds the edge of Butt's bat and the ball runs away to third-man for one. Kumar proving a bit of a handful and he very nearly cleans Nazir up with one that nips back. Not big on footwork this Nazir character, and he's nearly out next ball, missing a straightish delivery that looked plumber than a gang of Polish plumbers. Nazir shows his frustration off the last ball, charging down the track and missing with an ugly heave. Looks like a dead man walking to me...
6th over - 25-0 Santh, in contrast to Kumar, is spraying it about like an unmanned hose. Butt times a fullish delivery straight down the ground for four before Santh serves up a bit of chin music, but Butt ducks it comfortably. A wide from Santh before Butt bags a couple of braces with controlled off-side strokes.
5th over - 18-0 Not many emails so far folks...in fact, there's been one. I suspect that's because you're all in bed, dozing, or perhaps cuddling loved ones...Kumar, meanwhile, is keeping things extremely tight, and Nazir scores the first run of the over with a flick off his pads and Butt picks up a single with a gentle pat down the pitch. The Sky cameraman has eased into Totty Mode very early on - Jaipur, it appears, is absolutely chocabloc with sorts.
4th over - 16-0 Santh drops short and is carved through point for four by Butt. But Santh is unpredictability personified this morning and he serves up a jaffer next up that has Butt groping outside off.
3rd over - 11-0 Kumar slides onto Butt's pads and is clipped away for a couple. But Kumar, although hardly express, looks a decent bowler and he has Butt fishing outside off with his final ball.
2nd over - 8-0 Sree Santh to share the new ball with Kumar and his first delivery is a wide. Nazir is off the mark with a sweet back-foot drive for a couple, but Santh throws in another wide down leg. Santh hits back well, getting one past a wild and windy woosh from Nazir outside off-stump. But Nazir strikes the first boundary of the day, jabbing a short ball from Santh to the mid-wicket fence. Bruce Yardley is going off on one about the "colours of Jaipur" on Sky, he's now mentioned the word "colours" about 15 times in two overs.
1st over - 0-0 It's Butt and Nazir to open for Pakistan, meaning skipper Malik drops down the order. Debutant Kumar has first bung and his first over is a maiden with plenty of hoop away from the left-handed Butt.

"It may be Sunday morning (or very late Saturday night, depending which way you're looking at it), but you need to be on your game if you want that massive-bucks contract with that breakaway Indian super live text chat. Haven't you wondered why Paresh and Mark have been trying so hard to impress?"
