Dravid was dismissed for a duck |
Captain Rahul Dravid admitted India's poor batting display cost them the one-day series decider at Lord's. Only wicket-keeper Mahendra Dhoni managed to make a significant contribution in India's 187.
"We didn't get enough runs, if we had got 250 it would have been interesting but all credit to England, they bowled very well," said Dravid.
"We never got any decent partnerships going, the wickets kept falling regularly and we had no momentum."
He added: "It was the right decision (to bat first) given the combinations we had and you back yourself to make 250 with seven batsmen."
Dravid heaped praise on Andrew Flintoff, who bowled despite pain in his ankle and took three vital wickets.
"He is absolutely critical to England. He's half their side, to be honest," said the India captain.
"He makes a huge difference to England, the composition of the team they can
play - what he can do coming in as a first-change bowler, his batting, his slip catching.
"Flintoff makes a huge impact."
Speaking about the series as a whole, Dravid added: "I think 4-3 is probably a true reflection.
"They played some very good cricket. We always had our backs to the wall right through; we fought back well last week - but to be honest, they were a slightly better side than us in the one-day format."
