Trent Johnston will lead Ireland in the Intercontinental Cup |
Clontarf's Trent Johnston has been named as the new Ireland captain after the omission of Jason Molins for the Intercontinental Cup in Namibia. Opener Molins struggled to get scores during the summer despite Ireland's progress to the ICC Trophy final.
Wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien is available again, having previously not been released by his county Kent.
Ireland play the United Arab Emirates in the Intercontinental Cup semi-finals on 23-25 October.
The winners will face Bermuda or Kenya in the final.
The competition is aimed at giving 12 of the International Cricket Council's associate members experience of the longer version of the game.
