Sangakkara is known to be a volatile character at times |
Three Sri Lanka players have been fined for using obscene or abusive language during their Asia Cup final win. Kumar Sangakkara was docked his entire match fee and team-mates Upul Chandana and Tillakaratne Dilshan were fined half of theirs.
Match referee Mike Procter called a hearing after their behaviour was reported by the two on-field umpires in Sunday's final against India.
Wicket-keeper Sangakkara was involved in rows with two Indian players.
Umpire David Shepherd was forced to step in after Sangakkara and Mohammad Kaif had a verbal spat.
Later, Sangakkara became embroiled in a heated row with Harbhajan Singh.
Procter found the wicket-keeper guilty of a Level 2.9 offence under the International Cricket Council's code of conduct and fined him his entire match fee.
Sangakkara's offence, which could have resulted in a suspension, refers to the use of "language that is obscene, offensive or of a generally insulting nature" to another player, official or spectator.
Chandana and Dilshan were fined under a less serious Level 1.4 offence which deals with the more general use of offensive language.
Hosts Sri Lanka won the final in Colombo by 25 runs.
