I'm getting better shots in now and I'm pleased with the performance Amir Khan

Carey, winner of nine of his 25 fights, was forced to defend from the sound of the first bell as Khan launched into a barrage of stunning combinations.

The Olympic silver medallist cut Carey's eye with big right and then attempted to lower his opponent's guard with a flurry of body shots.

Khan, 18, was caught in the final round, but that was his only blip.

The light-welterweight, who was given a 40-36 verdict by referee Wynford Jones, paid tribute to his opponent.

"Credit to Baz, he put up a good fight. I hit him with most of the punches I have got and he still stood there," Khan told ITV1.

"He is a strong boxer and he was still coming forward to fight me.

"I paced myself tonight. In the first fight I rushed a bit but I'm getting better shots in now and I'm pleased with the performance."

"I can go all the way with a good work rate against a guy who has had 25 fights and been round the block three times - I can go four rounds with anyone."
