    Speed skating - mixed relay

OK then. Quarter-final one coming right up.

The best two teams in each quarter-final qualify for the semi-finals, along with the two fastest third-placed teams.

The first quarter-final features the Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Hungary.

    OFF THEY GO!

  2. How does the mixed relay in speed skating work?published at 10:59 GMT

    Speed skating - mixed relay

We should be in for a treat with the mixed relay in the speed skating.

It was introduced at Beijing 2022 and each team consists of four athletes - two women and two men.

Each skater does two legs of the 18-lap race.

It's going to be absolutely chaotic and it's coming up right now.

    Cross-Country Skiing - Women's Sprint Classic

You have to feel for the other skiers in heat one because Sweden's Joanna Sundling and Norway's Kristine Stavas Skistad were head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.

Reigning Olympic champion Sundling crossed the line in three minutes and 55.29 seconds, less than a second before world champion Skistad.

The pair have automatically qualified for the semi-final where their battle will continue!

I'm afraid it's another bit of bad news for Team GB at these Games.

Niall Treacy, our sole male representative in short track, was well placed in his heat when he went shoulder to shoulder with Canada's Steven Dubois.

Both men tumbled to the ice as Dubois tried to muscle past Treacy on the inside and the Brit aimed to defend his position.

After a review, it has been decided both men shared responsibility for the incident, so neither is advanced through to the next round.

    Cross-Country Skiing - Women's Sprint Classic

The women's sprint classic quarter-finals are about to begin.

Reigning Olympic champion Joanna Sundling, who finished second in this morning's qualifying, is in the first heat alongside world champion Kristine Stavas Skistad of Norway.

As far as quarter-finals go this is a real treat for us because their rivalry has been labelled 'Battle of the Titans' in the run-up to these Games.

Had Skistad finished in the top three in qualifying then we wouldn't have seen these go head-to-head so soon either.

Short Track Speed Skating - Mixed-team Relay Quarter-Final

There are three mixed-team relay quarter-finals about to start at the Milano Ice Skating Arena.

How does it work, I hear you ask?

The best teams in each quarter-final qualify for the semi-finals and the two fastest third placed teams also progress.

Great Britain are not involved in this event.

So here's how things stand after the downhill event...

GOLD - Breezy Johnson (USA) - one minute 36.59 seconds

SILVER - Ariane Raedler (Aut) - one minute 36.65 seconds

BRONZE - Laura Pirovano (Ita) - one minute 36.86 seconds

Their team-mates will race in the slalom at 13:00 GMT to decide who lands a medal.

  8. What are moguls?published at 10:41 GMT

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport in Livigno

The incredibly steep moguls course is just over 200m long, and features artificial bumps that the skiers must navigate with tight turns and aerial jumps.

Athletes are judged on their speed, turns and aerial manoeuvres.

Alpine skiing - women's team combined

There you have it. That's the downhill event done and dusted as Slovakia's Katarina Srobova crosses the finish line - a whopping 10.07 seconds behind leader Breezy Johnson.

Srobova's got a smile on her face, though. She's just happy to be there.

Petra Vlhova is back. We have to talk about her.

I feel unbelievably nervous for her compatriot, a young racer, who's racing downhill - if she doesn't finish and Petra doesn't get the chance to make her come-back...

Petra has had a horrendous time with injury. She went from stratospheric legendary status [as Olympic slalom champion in 2022] to down in the dumps and it took her years to come back.

So we are so happy she's back.

Slovakia's Petra Vlhova is the defending Olympic champion in the women's slalom so she'll be wanting to grab a medal today.

But her team-mate Katarina Srobova is making her Olympic debut today and she only managed a 43rd place in downhill training last week. Off she goes...

    Men's and women's moguls qualifying

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport in Livigno

I've come to a new venue today, the Livigno Aerials and Moguls Park, for moguls qualification. Given I've done zero exercise since arriving in the mountains a week ago, I decided I would do the commute on foot. What I didn't realise was that most of the half-hour walk was uphill, at nearly 2,000m altitude.

After huffing and puffing my way here, I then had my lunch and the croissant I had just bought confiscated by security.

Today can only get better, surely.

Short Track Speed Skating - Men's 1000m heats

Great Britain's Niall Treacy recorded a time of one minute 54.040 seconds in the men's 1000m heats.

That was the slowest time of his heat meaning he has not advanced through to the quarter-finals.

Kazuki Yoshinaga of Japan crossed the line in one 25.944 seconds, with Clayton DeClemente of the United States less than a second behind him.

Breezy Johnson had to fight today.

There were quite a lot of mistakes and errors in there - maybe because she's paired with Mikaela Shiffrin she wanted to be even better but 110% in sport doesn't exist, it means you start making mistakes. 100% of Breezy Johnson is the best.

Willing Jen & Bruce on for their bronze-medal match today. Watching their communication, positivity and team work in the round robin was genuinely inspirational. It was an example of how people should work together. Today's a new day, fresh start. We believe in you. Let's show them our support.

    Nicola in Hertfordshire

Do think we can take home the bronze today in the mixed curling, but the Italian team will be a tough challenge.

    Harry in Greater Manchester

Gutted Jen and Bruce crumbled yesterday. Sadly, that’s what pressure does to you, even if you steamroll through qualifying. Bruce looked near tears after the match. There is still a chance of a medal, though. I’m sure they’ll use the anger of their loss as motivation.

Ah that's a shame. It's the same gate that caught Lindsey Vonn out on Sunday and Isabella Wright hits it here.

While she doesn't go down like Vonn did, she knows that's enough to of a setback to harm any medal hopes and she doesn't finish her run.
