    Alcaraz 7-5 6-2 6-1 De Minaur

Carlos Alcaraz spoke about facing Alexander Zverev, who knocked him out of the Australian Open in 2024, in the semi-final on Friday: "I need to increase my level. I have seen him throughout the whole tournament. He is playing really solid, aggressive tennis and he is serving pretty well.

"I have to be ready, we have to play really well tactically. It is going to be a great battle and I am looking forward to playing him here again and taking the revenge."

When asked what he plans to do on his two days off before the match: "I don't know. Golf is always on the list. We have to discuss with my team if we are going to practice or not, [maybe] for 30, 40 minutes. I will make the most of these two days."

Carlos Alcaraz was asked about the importance of having his dad and brother, who have travelled to Melbourne with him, in his team: "It's great for me. We make jokes in the locker room, all of the players have told me that I could play a football match with my team!

"I need it, I need my people around me. They are the reason that I play great tennis because they make me feel like I'm at home all the time. It's been great so far.

"I am really happy to see my dad [here]. This experience was my dad's dream when he played tennis so I am really happy to see him making his dream with me."

  7. 'The level is increasing in every match'published at 12:06 GMT

    Alcaraz 7-5 6-2 6-1 De Minaur

Carlos Alcaraz spoke on court after his quarter-final victory: "I'm happy with the way I am playing here. From the first round to now, I am increasing my level every match. My team told me after the first match that my level I want to play is going to come.

"Today I felt really comfortable, playing great tennis which I am proud about. I am really happy to get into the semi-final.

"Playing Alex is really difficult. I started the match really well but he makes it so you are in a rush all the time. You have to hit every ball as hard as you can which is impossible against him. It is always really difficult against Alex, you have to be focused on every ball."

    A great performance from Alcaraz.

There were some sticky moments in that first set and De Minaur came in his best form ever, but a change of tactics in mid way through the first set really started to unsettle De Minaur's rhythm. He started to slow the ball down, getting more top spin and forcing De Minaur to use his own pace rather than his own pace.

The first six games in the first set was breathtaking tennis.

Aussie fans left in their droves at the end of the second set. An earlier train home from Flinders Street Station proved too tempting.

They missed out on seeing an Alcaraz clinic. That is why he is aiming to become the youngest fella ever to complete the career Grand Slam.
