Judd Trump speaking to BBC Sport: "It was hard. I struggled a little bit with the table and it was a battle out there.I didn't have my A game today and I had to dig deep at 2-2 to make that big important clearance and the game kind of turned after that.

This has been truly gripping viewing. One of the more exciting matches in the tournament, despite neither player being on form. I need to sleep but can't switch off!

Snooker is so much more than big breaks. There is a fascination in seeing top players below par and relying on top drawer safety play. Tension makes for a different kind of entertainment. Enjoying this.

    Trump 5-2 Allen

Mark Allen is having a right go at this and has Judd Trump in trouble. He lays a wonderful snooker which Trump can't hit andhe then puts the Englishman in a second snooker.

The world number one escapes that in incredible fashion. Allen is 35 points behind with 35 on the table.

Judd, slowly but surely potting himself to the winning line. Mark Allen has played this ultra cautious snooker for a couple of years now, done his game no favours imo.

    Trump 5-2 Allen

Judd Trump is coasting to victory and has Mark Allen requiring a snooker to tie when his break of 68 is abruptly ended by a missed red to the right corner.

The world number 10 gets back to the table but with three reds tucked up on the side cushion, winning the frame here will take some doing.

Mark doing a great job of slowly and carefully building breaks to put the pressure on Judd, but while Judd's not been at his best tonight, he has that ability to lock in and make you pay for the faintest of errors

  13. Trump extends leadpublished at 22:02 GMT 15 January

    Trump 4-2 Allen

Judd Trump pots a lovely long red in the right corner moments after missing one to the same bag.

It sets the Englishman off and while he is battling for position he is still able to accelerate to a break of 70 and take another frame.

  14. Higgins hits lucky 'fluke'published at 21:54 GMT 15 January

John Higgins is known as the 'Wizard of Wishaw' but this attempted plant was definitely him waving his magic wand.

Are we heading towards another decider like in the earlier QF? Too early to say; wouldn't surprise me with Trump vs Allen

    Trump 3-2 Allen

Judd Trump has work to do here. He is 49 points behind with 51 on the table but he is going about his business with a steely determination and focus.

It wasn't missable but he missed it. You can't comprehend Mark Allen missing a ball like that, especially to win the frame.

Judd needs to take a few more risks, setting back too much will only let mark set the pace. all in all, we're in for a cracking match!

    Liam, Lancaster

More frames like that third one and this will go on so late it will really put the "bat" in "battle"...

    David, Newport

I personally love all this chess-match style safety, it's great tension.

    Tim, London

I was fully expecting this to be over by now - interval will do Judd some good hopefully on table getting cue arm going

    Trump 2-2 Allen

Judd Trump is really struggling to get good position. It is like he is fighting with the cue ball and he looks bemused as he breaks down on 19 points, missing by his standards, a fairly simple red to the left corner.
