Antrim's Jordan Brown will face world number four Mark Selby in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Open after beating Mark King 4-3.

Brown fought back from 3-2 down to maintain his impressive recent form after he reached the quarter-finals at last month's German Masters.

Mark Allen exited the competition after losing 4-2 to Ali Carter.

Allen took a 2-1 lead in Thursday's late match but the Englishman reeled off three straight frames to win.

Brown, who defeated Swiss player Alexander Ursenbacher 4-3 on Thursday morning in the last 32 of the competition, opened with a break of 51 but King responded to take a 2-1 lead.

The 33-year-old levelled the tie with a strong break of 74 but English player King nudged back in front at Celtic Manor. Brown edged a nervy sixth frame before securing his second comeback win of the day with a break of 60.

Selby beat Masters champion Yan Bingtao 4-2 to progress to the last eight.

"I'm absolutely buzzing, it's all clicking together at just the right time," said Brown.

"All my friends back home wind me up and say I love a decider but I really don't. I'd rather have it easy but as long as I get to four frames first it doesn't matter."
