  2. 'Pleasing for home fans' - Parlingpublished at 17:39 GMT 15 March

    Leicester 66-14 Exeter

Leicester Tigers head coach Geoff Parling told TNT Sports: "It's been a lot of hard work from the start of the season, we mixed it around. Lots of guys have chipped in for each other.

"It was a big effort by everybody, and really pleasing we got to do it in front of our home fans as well.

"It's been a great chance for some guys to put their hands up, if you look at Will Wand, Harry Palmer - mixed with some older blokes who have got game time.

"Our minds are already on next week at Bristol and we really want to make sure we're on it in front of our home fans again. We have to keep working hard and making sure we turn up."

  3. 'Gutting to miss an opportunity' - Pearsonpublished at 17:34 GMT 15 March

    Leicester 66-14 Exeter

Exeter Chiefs captain Lewis Pearson told TNT Sports: "We've been in this situation before, at Northampton, and obviously we hoped we had the same resolve to get a result but unfortunately it wasn't there today.

"We're learning hugely, this was our first chance to get some silverware in the cabinet after a rebuild season, so it's gutting that we've missed that opportunity."

Former Exeter Chiefs captain on BBC Radio Devon

Everything went Leicester's way. Exeter fell off tackles, they made basic errors, they gave away penalties.

It's a very, very rude awakening for these boys from Exeter - they'll never forget the Prem Cup final for the wrong reasons.

But this is what happens in sport, we've all seen it, and it's times like these you remember when the times are good you've got to put it all down to the fact you've been through these awful moments.

    Tom Varndell
Former England and Leicester wing on BBC Radio Leicester

A brilliant game to watch, really impressive. Every part of Tigers' game today was top-notch. Defence was incredible, but how clinical they were in attack, absolutely ruthless and it sets the tone for the rest of the season.

There were some brilliant individual performances but a full team performance today was what was so impressive.

What Geoff Parling is creating here - that mindset, that work ethic, that ruthless edge, I can't wait for next week.

  8. 'A real squad effort' - Searlepublished at 17:20 GMT 15 March

    FT: Leicester 66-14 Exeter

Leicester Tigers' Billy Searle told TNT Sports: "It's massive for the club, a real squad effort - we had everyone involved pretty much throughout the competition.

"A trophy's a trophy and we'll take it and move on to the Prem. It's special to have a final at home, with a big crowd and big atmosphere so it's really pleasing.

"It was probably not the most exciting rugby at times but we still tried to move the ball, we used our pressure game and our kicking game and it's a good win for us."

A lot of praise should go to Parling for the work he has done with this squad in such a short period of time. However, some credit should go to Cheika for his work last season. Set the foundations for this.

A resounding win for the Tigers, who claim the trophy for the first time.

It's also their first silverware under head coach Geoff Parling and, to be honest, the result never looked in doubt.

  11. try

    O'Connor

    Too easy, again.

Plenty of Tigers players along the right flank as the Chiefs' defence is ripped open again and James O'Connor collects the ball before strolling over.

He's off target with the conversion attempt, but nobody will be too bothered at this stage.

    Leicester 61-14 Exeter

Strangely enough, Exeter Chiefs scored 14 points in last year's final as well.

The problem was they conceded 48 to Bath - and it's more than that today.

As it stands, this is going to be the biggest margin in a Prem Rugby Cup final.

  13. 'The effort is so, so good'published at 17:06 GMT 15 March

    Leicester 61-14 Exeter

    Tom Varndell
Former England and Leicester wing on BBC Radio Leicester

We've seen some brilliant attacking tries to today but for me, the workrate in defence, the hits, the line speed, the connection, it's unbelievable.

We're in the 72nd minute, it's 61-14 and Tigers are playing like it's 0-0. The effort is so, so good. What Geoff Parling has created here is really special.

  14. try

    Haffar

Credit to the Chiefs, they keep going and Ben Coen snatches the ball from Joaquin Moro to set up an attack on the left.

But Leicester have put in some big hits when they needed to and they're keeping Exeter at bay.

Eventually the mistake comes - and the Tigers break, with Finn Theobald-Thomas racing through for an easy score.

Disappointing performance by a second-string Chiefs side against a strong Tigers team. Very little invention by them and seemed overwhelmed by the onslaught. Hopefully they will learn from this when they get back to the Premiership. Vincent and Ridl looked half decent. Shocking weather earlier didn’t help.

    Leicester 56-14 Exeter

    John Lockyer
Former Exeter Chiefs captain on BBC Radio Devon

All we can say at the moment is look forward to Saturday, Sale at Sandy Park in the Prem - back to league action and we hope that Exeter are able to pick from strength at the weekend.

  17. Postpublished at 16:58 GMT 15 March

    Leicester 56-14 Exeter

Leicester are back at 15 players on the field and they win possession again after a fumble by Paul Brown-Bampoe.

They've got the half-century up already - how many more points can the Tigers add and rub salt into the Exeter wounds?

Gabriel Hamer-Webb takes a pass wide on the right and stretches for the corner, but there's some doubt as to whether his knee was down.

The TV replay confirms Hamer-Webb's score is good to stand and James O'Connor does his bit with the kick.

Well, at least the numbers of personnel are level now.

Leicester's Will Wand is ordered to the sin-bin for failing to judge 10m properly after a penalty was awarded and the Chiefs will be back at full strength shortly.
