Well, that's all for today and Ireland's autumn.

Ireland came up short but that was a belter of a way to end November.

You can read Matt Gault's report from Dublin here, and keep an eye on the BBC Sport website and app for more reaction.

We're off for a lie down.

Thanks for joining us, not only tonight but for all of the games, and enjoy the rest of your evening!

  2. 'We won't get carried away'published at 20:58 GMT 22 November 2025

    FT: Ireland 13-24 South Africa

South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus: "It's always nice after a win. Especially against a quality team like Ireland. We won't get carried away by this, but the beer is certainly a bit sweeter. We're thankful we can manage to beat them here. We're proud of the long season to grind out a win against a team like them at home, for the first time in 13 years.

On James Ryan's 20-minute red card: "I think that was the right call."

Ireland's Caelan Doris during the press conference:

"It was pretty unique. Chaotic is the word that sums it up.

"I am proud of the fight, courage and character we showed at times.

"Obviously you want that to transfer into points and results, but I think that is going to stand with us going forward."

How do you rate Ireland's autumn?

It started with a loss in Chicago to New Zealand and a defeat by the Springboks tonight.

There were wins over Japan and Australia in the middle, but where do Andy Farrell's side stand now we're two years out from the World Cup?

It tees up the Six Nations nicely. Ireland have to answer the criticisms that they are 'over the hill' and do some evolving between now and February.

  8. Some of the stuff we did really well last week, didn't transfer this weekpublished at 20:48 GMT 22 November 2025

    FT: Ireland 13-24 South Africa

More from Ireland coach Andy Farrell speaking in the press conference:

"They [South Africa] try and cause a bit of a bit of chaos within the game.

"Certainly at scrum time and in general as well and I think we lost our composure a little bit. Certainly, at the end as far as our shape is concerned.

"Some of the stuff we did really well last week, didn't transfer this week."

South Africa are the largest and most physical team in the world. No other team can really compete against their scrum, except the South Africa "B' team.

    David, Tyrone

Have to agree with Jack in Munich - there could never be a contest when we were reduced to 12. Our discipline isn’t great, but I’ve never known Ireland to give away so many penalties and get so many cards. The laws have changed so much now that the game of rugby has become a victim. My honest opinion - it was a farce

    Mitchell, Chester

Deserved win for SA but...not being able to be out of sight against a 12/13-man team shows a weakness.

Ireland have plenty of options with runners almost rugby league style and are great under a high ball meaning the kicking game is strong.

However, South Africa have proven tonight that you can have all of that but if you don't have a set piece then it doesn't matter.

  12. 'I haven't seen a game like that ever'published at 20:42 GMT 22 November 2025

    FT: Ireland 13-24 South Africa

Ireland coach Andy Farrell speaking in the press conference:

"You think you have seen it all and I haven't seen a game like that ever.

"First and foremost, you look at yourself and why things have happened, so we will do that and learn the lessons from that.

"My overriding thought of the match is that I am overwhelmingly proud."

Fifty caps for South Africa and a win on Irish soil.

A good day all round for Leinster's RG Synman.

South Africa's strength in depth is incredible. You could change the entire 23 and barely notice a drop off. That is scary.

Ireland's grit and commitment can never be questioned but, not for the first time, there is a concern that they don't really have the answers for such a physical game.

I mean, if you're going to lose then that's the way to go out.

A fighting performance from Ireland, who had five yellow cards, one of which was upgraded to a 20-minute red, and were down to 12 players at one point.

Ireland showed great fight but world rugby has been put on notice for any team trying to come for South Africa's crown as world champions.

Incredibly proud of Ireland to still be in that game in the 79th minute. A moment of madness from Ryan and a scrum that couldn’t cope with the Boks, but the fight and grit the team showed was phenomenal.

    Rory, Northern Ireland

It was those 3 cards in that first half that sort of took the game out of Ireland's hands and gave South Africa an opportunity to inflict scoreboard pressure on them.

    Teni, London

South Africa fully deserved that...in Durban last year every South African supporter shook my hand and congratulated me when we won with the last kick...they fully deserve the credit tonight...well done South Africa

South Africa proving why they're the best team in the world. Their set-piece is so good that if you don't match it, you're in trouble.

Yet the problem is, it's so hard to do that.
