Well, that's all for tonight. That was a lot of fun, wasn't it?

You can read Matt Gault's report from the Aviva Stadium here, and keep an eye on the BBC Sport app & website for more reaction from Dublin.

We'll be back next week as South Africa roll into town. Now that's a tasty one to round out the autumn.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we'll catch you then.

    See ya!

Ireland's Caelan Doris speaking in the press conference after the game about his different position:

"When I am playing eight anyway, I try to cause a bit of chaos in the breakdown anyway and do a bit of a seven's job there.

"The difference was the first breakdown off scrum and lineout and defending a little bit differently off lineouts.

"It doesn't make too much difference.

"I probably felt a little bit more comfortable at eight, but happy in either role."

Ireland will be excited again and they can take a lot from this performance. It was another step in the right direction.

    Brian O'Driscoll
Former Ireland captain on TNT Sport

They [South Africa] have rested all of their front liners as much as they can to take on Ireland next week.

They have had some incredible tussles over the last few of years.

It has been pretty level for the most part, but it won't be a test match for the fainthearted, that is for sure.

Ireland may only have one match left this autumn but it's a big one as world champions South Africa roll into town.

After all the talk of Ireland being underdone against New Zealand and a slow performance against Japan, are they now ready to face the Springboks?

Seeing Peter O'Mahony there in the crowd earlier - or "Mr Approachable" as Conor Murray calls him - reminded me to give a plug to our latest Ireland Rugby Social.

Gavin and Conor went down to the famous shed at the bottom of O'Mahony's garden to catch up with the former Ireland skipper.

Here's more from Ireland coach Andy Farrell in his press conference, this time on Mack Hansen:

"I said to him before the game 'good players don't need excuses, they can get on with it and be themselves and get Man of the Match if they want', and he agreed.

"He is that type of player.

"He prepares well, has a great attitude to get across his detail and that is why he slotted back in and was able to be himself."

I thought it was an immense performance from Ireland, but Prendergast, as great as his passing and kicking is, remains an open door for any player looking to break the line. Crowley is by far the better player.

    Steve, Stoke-on-Trent

A response at last! Only change would be James Lowe and Bundee Aki. Both seem off their game - maybe need a break? They have been non stop for us but look tired. This team are still a top team and, unlike previous mid World Cup cycles, are changing. I like it

In his post-match press conference, Andy Farrell says it looks like Stuart McCloskey has injured his groin again.

That's the injury that kept him out of the Japan game.

"He has been great all week and rehabbed thoroughly the week before, but playing test match rugby is little different," Andy Farrell said.

"Not nice for Stuart, but we will see how bad it is over the next couple of days."

A low point on a good night for Ireland.

  13. Second half 'very pleasing'published at 22:33 GMT 15 November 2025

    FT: Ireland 46-19 Australia

Ireland's coach Andy Farrell speaking on TNT Sports:

"If you look at the performance against Australia the last couple of years, they have always been hard to beat and had some great wins as well.

"To keep playing to the to the end and play some good stuff right until the bell shows some nice character from ourselves.

"Mack Hansen coming back in and three tries, that's amazing isn't it.

"Fair play to Australia, they are tough.

"It wasn't all going our way, but we found a way to compose ourselves.

"I think it was very pleasing in the second half how we managed the game."

  18. 'We can still be much better'published at 22:22 GMT 15 November 2025

    FT: Ireland 46-19 Australia

Ireland's Sam Prendergast speaking on TNT Sports:

"We got our attack flowing better than we probably have the last two weeks and even probably if you look back to the Six Nations, the best we have maybe been in terms of work off the ball and ability to pick on defenders.

"That is a positive to come out of the game.

"There are a good few learnings that we need to take away, and we can still be much better."
