It was the Scarlets fans that were celebrating with their players as Wham's 'Last Christmas' boomed out over the PA system.
Cardiff will wonder how they didn't make all their pressure count but it was evergreen Gareth Davies who was the hero here once again.
Scarlets had a poor first block of the season but now will eye derby delight against Ospreys and Dragons to keep climbing the table.
Cardiff will lick their wounds before taking on Dragons in the capital and then travelling to Brewery Field to face Ospreys as they try to get their play-off bid back on track.
Join us tomorrow for live coverage of Ospreys versus Munster in Bridgend and then Dragons against Connacht at Rodney Parade.
If those fixtures rival this derby for drama then we are in for a treat.

Player of the match Gareth Davies speaking to BBC Two Wales: "I enjoy a couple of tries at the Arms Park, I enjoy playing there.
"It was a good game of rugby, Cardiff threw everything at us and we weathered the storm. I thought we played well in the second half and deserved the win.
"Peely [Scarlets coach Dwayne Peel] spoke at half-time that we'd get awarded for our defensive effort in the first half, and we saw it out in the end.
"Nobody thought we were going to come here and win, so we're happy with that."

Cardiff with a breathless attack and the clock hits 80.
They keep attacking against superb Scarlets defence, which puts Cardiff outside the 22.
Cardiff lose their steam and need some impetus. It comes with a Mason Grady charge into the 22 but then Callum Sheedy bizarrely kicks to the left. It's slapped down and hacked into touch by Gareth Davies.
Scarlets have done it. They are the first side to beat Cardiff at the Arms Park this season.
A ball is slapped back from an aerial bomb and caught by Cardiff hooker Evan Lloyd.
However, the ball was close to the injured Blair Murray so referee Ben Breakspear blows up.
Play will restart with a scrum after Murray is helped from the field with an injury to his left ankle. That's a blow for Scarlets - and potentially Wales ahead of the Six Nations.
Error follows error with knock-ons by Marnus van der Merwe and then Johan Mulder from a Taulupe Faletau offload after he carried from a rapidly retreating scrum.
Scarlets replacement Marnus van der Merwe is introduced for Wales hooker Ryan Elias and the Springbok is able to celebrate a scrum penalty with his first act.
Scarlets suddenly counting down the minutes, both of the yellow card and to full time.

I think that's a penalty try. Johnny Williams is coming from an offside position, he's had the ball passed into him, I think that's a try under the posts if he's not there.
