Gloucester Rugby have added Chris Boyd and Rob Burgess to the club's leadership group.

Boyd - who was director of rugby at Northampton Saints - joins as technical director while Bath's head of recruitment Rob Burgess has been appointed general manager.

The Cherry and Whites say that these new roles will be key in the club's "long-term strategy across all rugby operations".

Gloucester are currently eighth in the Prem table and have won only once in 10 games this season.

Director of rugby George Skivington confirmed in November they would be making changes to their leadership structure to "enhance the programme".

Chief executive Alex Brown also said in an open letter to supporters, external that Gloucester's recruitment last summer had left them short of experience in key positions.

Boyd left his position as a performance consultant at Irish side Munster in May 2025 after less than half-a-year in the role.

Gloucester say that his new role will involve a combination of both remote and in-person responsibilities.

"I'm delighted to be supporting Gloucester during this next phase of the club's development," Boyd said.

"Gloucester is a proud club with a passionate supporter base, and I believe there is huge potential within the playing and coaching group.

"My role is to help bring clarity, alignment and a strong strategic focus to the rugby operation, ensuring everyone is pulling in the same direction.

"I'm looking forward to meeting up with the team and coaches when I travel over to Gloucester in April."

New general manager Burgess joined Bath as head of recruitment in late 2023 and is back at Gloucester for the second time having been head of rugby operations back in 2009.

Gloucester say that his new role will include being responsible for player retention and recruitment as well as working alongside the club's commercial team.

"I'm incredibly proud to be coming back to Gloucester in this role," Burgess told the club website.

"I'm looking forward to working with Chris, Alex and the performance staff to help build the structures and standards that will support long-term success at this club.

"I'm really enthused by the scope of this role and the impact it can have, and I'm excited to be coming back to Kingsholm in April."
