Christian Wade has signed a new contract to remain with Newcastle Red Bulls for another season.

Wade initially signed a deal for this season as he returned to the sport after a short spell with rugby league club Wigan Warriors.

But now the 34-year-old winger will be part of the new-look Red Bulls squad in 2026-27.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead, and bringing my experience, leadership and personality to help make this team the best it can be," he told the club's website, external.

Wade is the second leading try scorer in the history of Prem Rugby, eight behind Chris Ashton's tally of 101 tries.

The ex-Wasps, Gloucester and Racing 92, who also had a spell in the NFL, has that target in his sights but he has only managed to play two games in the competition for the Red Bulls without scoring a try so far, although there are eight games remaining of the league season.

"Christian has been a really positive influence on the squad since his arrival in December, and the way he looks after himself is an example to all players," said Newcastle's sporting general manager Neil McIlroy.

"He still has a big contribution to make for us as we look to advance this club, and I'm really happy that he has agreed to another season."
