Wasps came from behind as they claimed their third Premiership victory in four games with a bonus-point win at Sale.

Following an early yellow card for Nathan Hughes, Sale led 10-3 thanks to Jonathan Ross' early try.

But Wasps turned the game with two late first-half tries from Nizaam Carr and Josh Bassett.

Dai Young's men then completed the job with second-half tries from William Stuart and Hughes, boosted by Lima Sopoaga's 11 points with the boot.

AJ MacGinty landed his only conversion attempt, as well as two penalties for Sale, who were not flattered by the scoreline.

Sale had the better of most of the first half, then again the first 10 minutes of the second half.

But, after getting back to within range at 17-13, they had Ben Curry yellow-carded and, a minute later, Wasps took full advantage when Stuart went over in a breakaway for the visitors' third try.

The bonus-point victory - their second of the season - was secured only two minutes from time.

But the turning point was Carr's try, set up by the first of two try-scoring offloads from new centre Michael Le Bourgeois.

From the first, South African Willie Le Roux and scrum-half Dan Robson threaded their way through for Carr to score under the posts, then Le Bourgeois created the opening for winger Bassett just four minutes later.

Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond:

"We started the game well and probably lost some ascendancy in the last five minutes of the first half.

"Wasps got their tails up - there was one fantastic try scored by them to be fair - and they were troubling us in the last 10 minutes of the first half.

"Every time they went wide, they got metres and we couldn't handle that.

"It was disappointing in the second half. We were under pressure in the scrum and that was evident. We had one or two opportunities in the game and we couldn't put them away."

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young:

"We were good for it. It wasn't a perfect performance by any stretch of the imagination, but it's certainly a monkey off our back and, to come away with five points, we can't get much better than that.

"I'm really pleased because it's a difficult place to come, as we all know, and it's proved too difficult for us in the past, but it was great to just get that win.

"Willie Le Roux is back next week playing international rugby. Obviously, he's been excellent for South Africa, came back and wanted to play.

"He felt he needed to get the jersey on and play, and it's been quite a while since he last put it on, but he slotted straight back in. That's what you find with world-class players."
