Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey believes his side can do "something special" this season as they sit top of the Championship.

The Raiders made it three wins out of three after a 30-0 victory away to Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven in difficult conditions.

Barrow have racked up more than a century of points in their games while only conceding one try.

"We're working hard as a group," he told BBC Radio Cumbria. "We can do something special with this group if we stay injury free."

With Super League expanded to 14 teams, the Championship and League 1 have been merged for 2026, although of the original 21 clubs, Featherstone Rovers went into administration and Halifax Panthers have been liquidated to reduce it to 19.

But for Crarey, it is a case of developing a "no fear" attitude among his players, with a trip to Sheffield Eagles next up on Sunday.

"We'll go there without fear, as whatever happens there's no promotion and relegation," he said.

"It's about enjoying yourself, trying to play some nice rugby and entertaining what is a growing crowd.

"I wouldn't put too much pressure on winning and losing. That comes with the enjoyment part.

"We're not going to win all year. That's impossible in the modern game and the way people are picking up players. But what we can do is we can compete all year."
