Castleford sign Wigan forward Hirst after loan

Castleford Tigers have signed second-row forward George Hirst from fellow Super League side Wigan Warriors.

The 25-year-old initially joined Cas in February on a one-month loan deal but has now agreed a permanent contract until the end of the 2028 campaign.

Hirst had joined Wigan from Oldham ahead of last season but spent most of the campaign on loan with the Roughyeds and made a further 20 appearances.

"I've loved my time here so far and the lads and staff have been brilliant with me since I arrived," he said., external

"I'm happy with how things have started and I feel like I've settled in well. I just want to keep improving each week, build strong combinations with the boys and make sure I'm performing consistently for the team."

Hirst has made two appearances for Castleford since joining on loan, with both coming in Super League.
