There will be a number of Britons in action on Tuesday, including Murray Buchan and James Machon in the ski halfpipe qualification and Paula Walker and Rebekah Wilson in the two-woman bobsleigh. Former Olympic short track speed skater on BBC TV

"I thought Elise Christie looked good and was relaxed in training. She was with the Chinese and the Brits were in the mix too.

"I would probably say she is as good as Wilf O'Reilly and people who have been at the top. She was poor on the first and second day and bounced back to win bronze in the World Championships. Tomorrow, I am confident it will be the road to recovery en route to a gold medal for Elise.

"She is drawn in the outside lane in the seventh heat and it is business as usual. She needs to do what she has done. The trainers have not tried to change anything, which is a temptation, but she will skate nine laps and qualify for the finals."

Britain could have guaranteed their place in the semi-finals with victory over Norway in their penultimate round-robin game on Sunday but lost 7-6 to the men with the crazy pantaloons. But the Norwegians don't put style over substance, of course, because they are the reigning Olympic silver medallists.

Britain's women are through to the semi-finals but David Murdoch and his team aren't yet and they will need to sleep well this evening ahead of Tuesday's play-off match against Norway. Those of us setting our alarms for 05:00 GMT perhaps face a restless night as we anxiously wait to discover what sort of patterns the Norwegians will have on their trousers.

"Both Canada and Sweden are teams Eve Muirhead knows well and has beaten in the past, but they've beaten her - and in the round-robin here. If you're going to win the gold medal, you're going to have to beat them both. That match against Canada in the round-robin was close, and if Eve had a shot to win it against Canada again, in the semi-final, I'd go for it."

    Jackie Lockhart
2002 world curling gold medallist on BBC TV

"The result for Great Britain's women against Denmark was disappointing. It was scrappy and not the game we were expecting to see. Denmark were all over us and then the momentum changed, but in the closing ends it wasn't what I was looking for. Skip Eve Muirhead probably lost it in the 10th end trying to hit an inch of a stone. It is frustrating but look at the positives, they are still in the competition.

"The boys' dynamics has been good and the momentum for them seems to be going up. They face Norway and will have a bit more in them."
