So, there you have it - our 2023 US Open women's singles finalists.

American teenager Coco Gauff will take on second seed Aryna Sabalenka in front of a home crowd as she bids for a first ever Grand Slam title.

Day 12 at the US Open brings us to the men's singles semi-finals and two exciting match-ups on Friday.

Three-time champion Novak Djokovic meets American 20-year-old Ben Shelton on Arthur Ashe Stadium, with that match not taking place before 20:00 BST.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz then faces Russian third seed and 2021 winner Daniil Medvedev from 00:00 BST.

First up, though, Britain's Joe Salisbury and American Rajeev Ram will attempt to defend their men's doubles title when they play India's Rohan Bopanna and Australia's Matthew Ebden in the final at 17:00 BST.

So, we've just seen Aryna Sabalenka reach a second Grand Slam final, but what else happened on day 12 at Flushing Meadows.

Aryna Sabalenka on facing Coco Gauff in the final:

"She’s unbelievable and she’s playing really incredible tennis. The crowd will be supporting her a lot.

"I will do everything I can. I’ll be fighting for every point and I will do my best."

Aryna Sabalenka on reaching a first US Open final, but thinking she had won earlier in the tie-break:

"I was just all over the place but thanks team for reminding me it was up to 10.

"I was happy I was able to finish this match.

"Madison Keys played incredible tennis – it was just another level. I don’t how I turned this match. It really means a lot to me. I know you wanted her to win but thanks to you for staying and thanks for the atmosphere and thank you to those who supported me."

She gave her team a hard time earlier, but how is the relationship with the team?

"They’re fired, they’re not my team anymore. No, we spoke a lot after those tough semi-finals. With my emotions I have to do that – that is why I was yelling, screaming and swearing to them. It’s for a good reason."

Even if Aryna Sabalenka doesn't get the win over the line on Saturday, what a year it's been for the Belarusian.

She started 2023 with her first Grand Slam win at the Australian Open and made the semi-finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

On Monday she will become the new world number one. Can she make that title even sweeter with a second major triumph?

What a battle that was out on Arthur Ashe.

Madison Keys fought hard but she wasn't able to set up the all-American final that the home fans in New York would have loved to see.

Instead it's Aryna Sabalenka who will be facing Coco Gauff in Saturday's final.

Now that is special. How does Aryna Sabalenka get to the net in time, let alone get the return away.

Erm, that's slightly embarrassing. Aryna Sabalenka drops her racquet as she thinks she's won it.

You have to get to 10 points in the match tie-break, Aryna.

Madison Keys is trying her hardest to catch up, but Aryna Sabalenka is dictating play.

Keys can only try and chase down those forehands.

Aryna Sabalenka is floored as she attempts to return a Madison Keys forehand, but the American is still a mini-break down.

A cross-court forehand at the net gives Aryna Sabalenka a 4-0 lead.

But Madison Keys finally gets on the board with a forehand down the line. She's playing catch-up now.

Oh. It is looking very good for Aryna Sabalenka and very bad for Madison Keys, who finds herself a mini-break down early.

3-0 Sabalenka.

Well folks, we've waited this long and now we go to a tie-break to decide who will be meeting Coco Gauff in the final.

Aryna Sabalenka finishes her final service game with two aces. Not bad at all.

Remember, the second seed waltzed through the second-set tie break. Can she do the same again? She'll have to get to 10 points this time.

That's not what Aryna Sabalenka wants to be doing as we head to the closing stages of this match. Her forehand is off the mark completely.

Madison Keys, meanwhile, secures the hold with forehand drilled into the court.
