  3. 'Sometimes stress is a positive thing'published at 15:19 BST 1 June 2022

    Swiatek 6-3 6-2 Pegula

Here's what Iga Swiatek had to say following her victory:

"I needed to not fly because of her flat game, to be good with my legs was the key. She was changing her rhythm but I played with good dynamics so I was able to push her back a little bit.

"Today is warmer so the ball is flying a bit faster and I had to adjust to that for sure, especially with her really flat game. The atmosphere is great. I'm pretty happy I can play here and I had so many matches because it's always a great experience on Philippe Chatrier.

"It's always nervous but sometimes stress is a positive thing that can make you more active, more tense, so I try to use it."

On celebrating her birthday yesterday: "I had time to celebrate, it was nice. I still try to be really careful and spend time being cool. Maybe in a few years I'll be leaving a tournament to watch the Champions League final and still be able to win."

It's hard to make a case for Daria Kasatkina to win that semi-final.

The only thing is she is a very different player than Jessica Pegula but I just think Swiatek has too many answers and too much power for her.

    Swiatek 6-3 6-2 Pegula

Iga Swiatek is pondering what to write on the camera lens.

"Oh my god, this is hard!" she laughs, before writing 'Getting old but still fresh #21'.

Oh no, she's written 22! She's got her age wrong! She realises, laughs, covers her mouth and then scribbles it out. Never add a year on!

The longest winning streak on the WTA Tour since 2000 is Venus Williams' 35-match stretch back in 2000.

Iga Swiatek will equal that should she lift the trophy here at Roland Garros.

33 straight wins and another one in straight sets.

The rest of the tour have been unable to deal with her so far!

    Swiatek 6-3 6-2 Pegula

Jessica Pegula had some moments where she put Iga Swiatek under real pressure but she couldn't maintain it consistently enough.

It was a little scrappy in places from Swiatek but her quality and that winning ability bolstered by a 32-match unbeaten streak helped get her over the line.

She's into her third Grand Slam semi-final.

  20. Swiatek a game away from semi-finalspublished at 15:02 BST 1 June 2022

    Swiatek 6-3 5-2 Pegula*

Jessica Pegula drops to her haunches and taps her racquet against the ground as, at 15-30 on the Iga Swiatek serve, she once again sends a simple return long.

Swiatek doesn't miss a beat, overwhelming Pegula with her forehand from the back of court, and the American throws her racquet away in disgust as she plants a backhand into the net.

Pegula has had so many chances today and taken too few. Swiatek, meanwhile, might not be at her best but she is just one game away from the semi-finals.
