  2. 'We performed in difficult moments' - Cheikapublished at 22:25 BST 2 July 2022

    FT: Argentina 26-18 Scotland

Argentina head coach Michael Cheika is understandably a happy man. He too has given his thoughts to Sky Sports:

"There are obviously a lot of things to improve", he said, "but I think some of the basics were there. Playing in front of a home crowd gives you that will to win and perform.

"I've always admired Argentinian teams' ability to perform in difficult moments, and we did that [after losing Tomas Cubelli and Nicolas Sanchez]."

  3. 'We didn't get going' - Townsendpublished at 22:20 BST 2 July 2022

    FT: Argentina 26-18 Scotland

A dejected Gregor Townsend has also spoken to Sky Sports post-match:

"I'm disappointed", he said. "We didn't get going until the second half, and then we got into a position from which we should have kicked on, and didn't.

"We didn't have much ball [in the first-half], and we had to defend for a number of phases. It was a stop-start game throughout. Sometimes you have to create your own momentum, and you do that through accuracy.

[On Blair Kinghorn's performance at 10]: "I don't think it was as good as Blair would've wanted, but at times he did well. We're all here to learn. It's the first game for us in a while. We've got to be better next week.

"You have to make the most of the opportunities you get. Away from home you will get decisions go against you. We need to show more intensity, and counter what Argentina do better next week."

  5. 'I'm here to win Tests' - Gilchristpublished at 22:08 BST 2 July 2022

    FT: Argentina 26-18 Scotland

Scotland captain Grant Gilchrist has been giving his thoughts to Sky Sports:

"We were below our best in the first-half", he said. "We didn't control territory, didn't control possession. We showed what we're about at the start of the second half. At 18-all I felt momentum was with us and that we should've won the game.

"We can't come here and only play for periods. We need more accuracy and in the key moments we need to be better. At 18-all we have to take the restart and exit.

"We'll be back to win next week, and take it to the third Test.

"I'm not here to captain my country, I'm here to win Tests. That's the overriding emotion now."

We showed in patches what we're about. Got ourselves into good positions, Argentina started to make mistakes, give away penalties, and we scored two tries off the back of it. But credit to Argentina, they came back and won the game.

Scotland looked ring-rusty. Argentina are deserved winners. We got ourselves back into the game and then lost discipline. Scotland need a reaction next week.
