It is quite rare to be on the second weekend and only have one team who can still win the Grand Slam.

What a Test it is going to be for England in Paris on the final weekend.

As we have seen, home advantage is enormous so there is a lot of work for France to do.

Scotland have beaten France the last two times they met in this competition. France will have to go to another level again and find a different way to win at Murrayfield.

This is quite a young Irish side.

To go to the Stade de France was always going to be daunting. You could see at the start they were a bit like rabbits in headlights.

  5. 'Hell of a Test match'published at 19:00 GMT 12 February 2022

    FT: France 30-24 Ireland

Speaking to ITV, Ireland head coach Andy Farrell said: "Obviously we came here to win and to perform but there is another class side in France that are going to have a big say. They certainly did from the start as we were 10 points down in the first six minutes, which wasn't in the script, so fairplay to them.

"We got to a stage early in the second half where it was 22-7 and it just shows the character, the guts and the fitness of our side to go and play and get ourselves back in the game. I couldn't be more proud of that.

"To get in front and make sure we start well is something we need to look at. I thought the forward pack, it was a bit tit for tat. Their [France] scrum was very powerful in the first half but we sorted that out and it all comes down to one hell of a Test match. We got a point here for our courage and character.

"We are a squad and there are certain boys who need some game time and they will be given that, and there are certain boys who need a rest to lick their wounds and we will analyse that as we always do."

Winning on the road is going to separate the men from the boys in this Six Nations.

If Ireland can do it at Twickenham or France can do it at Murrayfield - those will be the wins that make champions.

  7. 'We're very disappointed' - Ryanpublished at 18:58 GMT 12 February 2022

    FT: France 30-24 Ireland

Ireland captain James Ryan said: "We're very disappointed. We started the game poorly.

"That gave them momentum in the first half. We showed some grit in the second half but we ended up chasing the game a bit.

"Discipline cost us and some handling errors at important time. They're areas where you just can't give France access."

Ireland should have kicked to the corner instead of taking the points from the late penalty.

There will be areas they can improve on. A young side away at the Stade de France, on the whole Ireland will go away with their heads up.

There is still a lot more of this tournament to go.

  9. 'No shame for Ireland'published at 18:54 GMT 12 February 2022

There are huge positives for Ireland.

They went down 10-0 after six minutes and got themselves back in the game.

Ireland had such an uphill battle and got themselves back into it twice, three times. There are a huge amount of positives from an Irish point of view.

There is no shame losing at the Stade de France after putting up such a battle. That was a ferocious Test match.

It's so different. It used to be about Parisian indifference.

I thought Dan Sheehan had his arm underneath the ball but it was actually Jaminet's hand between the ball and the pitch. The ball was within a whisker of the grass. I'm surprised by that.

  20. No try - France 27-24 Irelandpublished at 76 mins

It's terrific defensive work by Dan Sheehan.

Melvyn Jaminet breaks the tackle and gets over the try line but he is wrapped up by the Irish hooker on his way to ground.

The ball is held up so it's no try. But we'll come back for the penalty in front of the posts.
