    FT: Arsenal 2-1 Everton

That's all from us for today after Arsenal returned to winning ways in the WSL in their first league game since the winter break.

Everton withstood some serious early pressure, at least well enough to keep themselves in with a chance of snatching a point but the Gunners held on to go second in the table, level on points with leaders Chelsea.

You can read Adam Millington's report from Meadow Park here.

We'll be back tomorrow with four more WSL games, starting with Chelsea v Manchester United - a game you can watch live on BBC Two and iPlayer - while you can listen to the late game between West Ham and Tottenham on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra.

    See you again tomorrow!

Jonas Eidevall gathers his players in a huddle on the pitch. It's job done for Arsenal to restart their WSL campaign after the winter break.

They keep up the pressure on Chelsea, who host Manchester United tomorrow lunchtime, and leapfrog Manchester City into second place.

Meanwhile, Everton stay eighth, six points clear of the relegation place.

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

That's it! Arsenal hold on for the win.

Everton stayed in it until the last, mainly as a result of the home side failing to make the most of a host of chances in the first half and early in the second.

Goals from Caitlin Foord and Beth Mead put Jonas Eidevall's team level on points with leaders Chelsea.

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Arsenal are nearly there now. The six minutes are almost up as Beth Mead is replaced by Canadian Cloe Lacasse.

  5. Postpublished at 90+4 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

The initial ball in is headed away but Everton get it back and Elise Stenevik digs out a cross.

That is headed away but only as far as Rikke Madsen whose thumping shot is headed over by Stina Blackstenius.

Manuela Zinsberger claims the resulting corner to loud cheers from the home fans.

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Perhaps there are a few more nerves from Arsenal than the action on the pitch warrants.

Jonas Eidevall is booked for his protests against a free-kick given to Everton.

That leads to a corner for the away side...

  7. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

This might not have been as comfortable as it might have been for Arsenal but, with just one shot in the second half, it is hard to say Everton have really made it nervy for them.

There will be six added minutes for the Blues to change that.

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Martina Piemonte turns smartly and is brought down midway inside the Arsenal half. Another chance for Everton to get the ball into the box.

Megan Campbell takes it and Toni Duggan meets it but glances the header wide.

A first shot for Everton since the goal.

An Everton free-kick from deep on the right is overhit and bounces through to Manuela Zinsberger.

Is that the first time the Arsenal goalkeeper has touched the ball outside of a goal kick and picking it out of her net?

It might well be. It's certainly the first time I've had to mention her in this game which tells you a lot about how things have gone.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 83 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Alessia Russo is up and walking. But she heads straight off, Jonas Eidevall is taking no chances.

It's a double sub for Arsenal. Russo is off for Stina Blackstenius and Steph Catley replaces Katie McCabe.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 81 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Arsenal break and Alessia Russo looks to have the chance to run at the Everton defence.

Hanna Bennison is not having that and cynically brings down the Arsenal forward. Yellow card.

Russo is now down receiving a bit of treatment.

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Arsenal haven't managed to score the third and this has the potential to get a bit nervy for the home side.

Everton are throwing more players forward and taking a slightly more direct approach in the final third, getting crosses into the box.

The hosts have dealt with it well enough so far but they'll also think they should have put this game to bed a long time ago.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 76 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

    Double change now for Everton.

Toni Duggan is on Aurora Galli. A very attacking change for the visitors.

The other sub sees Martina Piemonte replace Katja Snoeijs.

Katie McCabe puts the ball in but Everton clear.

Not for long, though. The ball is played back over the top to McCabe and she thinks she is taken out by Everton keeper Courtney Brosnan as she hooks the ball into the middle.

Nothing given and the ball is played to Alessia Russo. She takes aim but her goalbound shot is cleared a couple of yards off the line.

Arsenal are pushing for a third.

  17. Postpublished at 66 mins

  18. Postpublished at 64 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Everton are showing more attacking in this second half but not much is coming from it so far.

    Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Triple change for Everton as they try to work themselves back into this game.

    Adam Millington
    BBC Sport at Meadow Park

Will Arsenal be able to extend their lead?

The game has carried on in a similar fashion after the second half with the Gunners dominating proceedings, but they've not been able to find their third yet.

They've had good chances, too, but Everton seem to be adapting to their game plan and are managing to move a tad further forwards than they did earlier.

Everton have just made a triple-substitution, too, and have fresh legs on the pitch.

Another goal for Arsenal would definitely ease any nerves which might begin to creep in
