Well, it's one step in the right direction for Chelsea with goals from Niamh Charles and Sam Kerr earning three points over Liverpool.

But there's a long road to go for Emma Hayes' side as they look to retain the WSL title with a further six games to play across all competitions until the season ends on 27 May.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes speaking on BBC Three: "We had to get back into being back in the WSL after games in the Champions League and FA Cup.

"We were asleep in the first 20 minutes and it wasn't good enough.

"I knew we would fight until the end. I think we had a hangover from the Camp Nou but the changes definitely had an impact.

"Sam Kerr is critical. Jessie Flemming had an excellent game too.

"I know we can produce better performances but when you get to this stage of the season you have to get results and I'm confident we can do it [win the title]."

You can't question Chelsea's commitment when searching for the winner tonight.

They attempted 25 shots, their highest total in a single match in the English Women's Super League this season.

Pernille Harder has certainly been in the mix since coming off the bench.
