Crystal Palace caretaker manager Paddy McCarthy, speaking to Sky Sports: "Lots of positives to take from the game, we worked their goalkeeper on an number of occasions. We started well and created the two clear cut chances at the start of the game. certainly lots of positives, you could see the fight in the team and they were going forward and pressing him.
On Joachim Andersen's withdrawal in the warm up: "Things like that happen, there has been illness floating around, it has been a tough week. The Andersen injury 15 minutes before kick off. These things happen in football and they are tough but we have to react to them and I think we did that well."
"It was hectic, on Thursday morning you get called into action and you have two days. The boys gave it their all and I can't fault their effort. They're a great group of lads, they are great people and I definitely believe they have more than enough to get themselves out of this situation.
On managing in the Premier League: "It was all about the score line. I'm disappointed with that. I enjoyed it, the lads were excellent for me. In terms of occasion, I can't really be positive about it because we lost the game. It was a bit of an experience over the last couple of days and I will probably reflect on it tonight but it was a good experience for me moving forward in my career."
On still being in charge after the international break: "To be honest I haven't even thought about it. I haven't discussed it. My whole though process has been focused on getting the team prepared for today under the circumstances. So I'm going to go home and rest up and see what the next week brings."

Arsenal
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports: "Really pleased with the performance, the energy, the determination that we showed again, the way we controlled the game. It was tough after playing 120 minutes in the week, wondering how the team would react but they reacted brilliantly and the crowd was at it again. Really happy.
On what he didn't like about the performance: "Disappointed to concede a goal on a set play and it was poor the way we did it. We could have done things better in the second half when we were dominant. We could have been more respectful with the simple things but it's normal."
"Some great goals, some great combinations. We were dominant and efficient, finding openings in the final third against a really compact and difficult block. We scored some beautiful goals again.
On coping with injuries: "We had to respond and we talked about having players out all season. Gabriel Jesus was out for four months, Emile Smith Rowe out for four and a half months, Kiernan Tierney, Thomas Partey, Eddie Nketiah out for two and a half months, now William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu. We overcome those situations, Rob [Holding] came in and was brilliant today. Everyone has to give another edge to be at the same level, it's not a secret.
"There are moments we have 14, 15 players but everyone is willing to play and put their bodies on the line and I am happy that our players are happy to do that. To be at the top you have to do that at all times.
"We can control our games, we have won six games in a row in the league which is great and that's it."

Crystal Palace caretaker manager Paddy McCarthy, speaking to BBC Sport: "There are lots of positives to take, definitely. The scoreline obviously doesn't suggest that but I thought there was fight in the team, there was creativity in the team. We had two early chances - Ramsdale makes a great save, we hit the post. Even when we went down we were able to create in moments. But this is high-quality opposition. They are top for a reason. I can't fault the lads' effort. They are a good group and they have to believe in themselves. they have more than enough to win games at this level. At 3-1 we created a chance through Wilfried and then they go and score an offside goal which is a little bit of a gut punch.
"The players have had a lot thrown at them. In the week, there was a little bit of illness going around. Obviously there was the situation with the manager on Thursday so a quick turnaround. t is probably a time when we need to get together, regroup and see what happens going forward. Whatever happens, this group has more than enough."
On Joachim Anderson's injury: "He felt his calf in the warm-up. We had to make a late change, which unsettled us somewhat but I thought Tomks [James Tomkins] came in and did well. We just had to get on with it.
On the managerial situation: "Our only focus was on getting ready for this game. I do not know what is next. We take each game as it comes and the next is a big one at home against Leicester."

Leandro Trossard has assisted six goals in 10 Premier League games for Arsenal, at least twice as many as any other player in the competition since his club debut in January. It’s also more assists than the Belgian provided in 50 Premier League appearances for Brighton since the start of last season (5).

Arsenal
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Sport: "The desire and the energy that we put in right from the beginning impressed me most. We were really determined and focused and left Thursday in the past. After playing 120 minutes, they have to come back here and do it again against a team with a lot of needs. Palace have not got the results lately but they have be very tough to beat. But we were dominant and deserved to win the game. Today, in the box when we had those openings, we defined the game in the right way.
On Gabriel Martinelli: "The reaction he had after missing a penalty [on Thursday]. There is always the question, but I asked him yesterday hoe he was and he said: 'I want to be in the team'."
On Bukayo Saka: "He was disappointed not to get a hat-trick. That is what we need. We need our front players firing and making the difference and today they did that again."
On conceding: "Yeah, I am not happy with that. Again it is from a set-piece. We need to improve that."
On being eight points clear: "It feels very good, especially with the way we have played and the results we have picked up. Now we must stop and make sure everyone comes back from the internationals with the same mindset. We have Leeds next and we put the focus there."

Bukayo Saka provided his 25th Premier League assist, aged 21 years and 195 days; only Cesc Fàbregas (20y 134d), Wayne Rooney (21y 63d) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (21y 140d) reached 25 assists at a younger age in the competition.
Saka (12 goals, 10 assists) became the first player to reach both 10+ goals and 10+ assists in the Premier League this season. He is the first Arsenal player to reach double figures for both in a Premier League campaign since Alexis Sánchez in 2016-17 (24 goals, 10 assists), and only the second Englishman to do so for the Gunners, after Theo Walcott in 2012-13 (14 goals, 10 assists).

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli: "Very happy, we needed that win and as I always say, we approach the games as a final and we did that today.
"It was a good goal, good pass from B [Bukayo Saka]. I don't know if it was to me or someone else but it was a good finish with my weak foot, good goal."
On getting over the disappointment of missing the penalty on Thursday: "It is life. Not every game you are going to score and play well. Of course I was sad and spent the whole night thinking about that penalty but it is over. I scored a goal today and we got the three points, the most important thing.
"Saka is a great guy not just him but the whole team. We are a family but Saka is a great guy and I just love to play with him."
On conceding against Palace: "Of course, we will watch the game, see our mistakes and see what we can do to improve for the next game.
"What I can say is that we go to every game with the hunger to win and try our best. It's a very good feeling."

Comfortable in the end for Arsenal.
Getting those goals in the first half helped to wash away the disappointment of Thursday night. They just looked like they could score at will every time they went forward.
It was always going to be a difficult assignment for caretaker manager Paddy McCarthy. He will be a little bit disappointed with the goals conceded.
Big result for Arsenal, applies a bit more pressure to Man City. Bigger games to come now of course, they are looking in fine form and I don't think they're going anywhere. This title race is going right to the wire.

Arsenal 4-1 Crystal Palace
A very comfortable win for Arsenal, who go into the international break eight points clear of Manchester City at the top.

This Arsenal team is the best team since Invincibles. What a turnaround for Mikel Arteta, the board who put a trust in him and worked through him to get where they are. Without forgetting the fans who had doubts on Arteta. Now we see reborn Arsenal.

It's the balance that this Arsenal team now has. They are so fluid, so good going forward. You think they might be exposed defensively but none of that either. Defensively really solid, press high, win the ball back, work hard for each other.
Arsenal are a very well oiled machine.

Wilfried Zaha thinks he gets rough treatment. He doesn't help himself by going to ground so, so easily some times. He underlines that by flopping to the floor following a fair tackle on him.
