Leicester City

Leicester goalscorer Dennis Praet talking to BBC Match of the Day: "I am very happy. It was a good strike from distance. The runs of the players around me gave me the freedom to shoot. It was a good goal.

On man-of-the-match Harvey Barnes: "Harvey is very talented. He has made a good progression and I hope that continues.

On going top of the Premier League: "We are really happy with our start and just have to continue this way.

"We know Burnley are a tough team and we had to work on our defending. We conceded two goals but created enough chances to win today."

Burnley have lost consecutive Premier League games for the first time since January. Prior to these two defeats, the Clarets had only lost one of their previous 15 in the competition (W8 D6).

Burnley

Burnley league debutant and goalscorer Jimmy Dunne speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I'm delighted to get a start in a game like this. To get a goal is overwhelming in some ways. It hasn't sunk in yet.

"It's just a shame the result has not gone as planned.

"I'm very lucky to have experienced pros at the club to lead me through.

"We have got three or four experienced centre-backs at the club and the gaffer was even a centre-back, so I have got all the guidance I need.

"It's difficult at this level for young defenders to get an opportunity. You have got to take them when they come.

"The squad here is so tight but lacking in numbers at the moment, so it's important to take this opportunity now.

"One thing I know about this squad is that it is relentless. The spirit is unbelievable, so we won't be down for long."

That was Burnley's first Premier League game without either Ben Mee or James Tarkowski starting since December 2014.

Leicester City

Brendan Rodgers on Cengiz Under, their new loan signing from Roma: "He is technically very good, he's very fast, can beat a man and is exciting to watch.

"He's fast, dynamic, gets a goal and is a young player with a lot of potential to develop. So I'm really excited to be working with him and believe he is perfect for the Premier League."

Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Burnley are a very difficult side to play against. They went ahead but we kept attacking the game and looked very good going forward.

"We are a bit patched up at the back but Wilfred Ndidi was incredible stepping in there from midfield.

"So I felt we were very good going forward and kept on going until the end to get a good three points."

On responding to Burnley fightback: "When it gets to 3-2 you have to stay calm and believe in your quality, see it through and we managed to do that.

"We have good pace in the side. The full-backs can get forward and we scored very good goals.

"I'm delighted for Dennis Praet, that was a very good strike.

"And Harvey Barnes was outstanding tonight, he keeps on getting into areas you want him to and is a big talent. He had wonderful ability, great running power, lasts the whole game, takes you up the pitch from deep possession and is improving all the time."

Hopes for the season: "How we finished in terms of league position last season was great and we want to build on that. We aim to be competitive with the talent we have and if we can add players to that then hope to be competitive.

"We won't be getting carried away. We stay calm, it's only the second game. We hope to get better as the season goes on."

There were 39 goals scored across eight games this weekend at an average of 4.9 per game.

This is the highest goals-per-game rate on a Saturday and Sunday of Premier League football (with a minimum of five games).

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers recorded his 100th victory in the Premier League, becoming the 23rd different manager to do that.

It took him 210 games.

Three British managers did it quicker - Alex Ferguson (162), Kenny Dalglish (197) and Kevin Keegan (209).

Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I'm pleased with a lot of aspects of our performance, but obviously you don't want to concede four goals.

"It was a really strange game. We had as many open chances as they did, but we've only managed to take two of ours.

"I've always marvelled at the spirit in the group. We don't go over easy and we were still creating chances at the end. That is something that has served us well in the Premier League.

"Jimmy Dunne has come a long way. It's a tough position for a young player to learn the game but he's done well. He stuck at it and picked up a goal as well."

The European games are still going on. Real Madrid are just kicking off the second half against Real Sociedad.

Leicester City

Leicester City man of the match Harvey Barnes speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was important to put on a good performance. The three points were very important and really pleasing to get.

"We spoke before the game that it was a long time since we won back-to-back matches. So it was important to put on a performance but mainly to get the result, which we did.

"At the back end of last season we weren't up to scratch and had to improve. Having done that, everything is very positive."

This is the first time Leicester City have been top of the Premier League table at the end of a day since the end of the 2015-16 season when they won the title.

This is the first time they have won their opening two games since that season.

They had not even won two league games in a row since the final game of 2019 and the first match of 2020.

"Leicester are top. I'd better wash my pants," says Gary Lineker.

The MOTD pundits are all raving about Leicester right-back Timothy Castagne too. He was part of the free-scoring Atalanta team of the past two or three years.
