  1. Good night!published at 22:50 BST 15 July 2020

And that's the end of another evening of Premier League lockdown football.

The champions cannot reach 100 points any more but they are of course still champions.

See you tomorrow night for four more games...

I should have given more credit to Alexandre Lacazette for him cutting out that pass from Alisson for the second goal - he made a great run to anticipate it.

  3. 'We took a break after 1-0'published at 22:45 BST 15 July 2020

    FT: Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on Sky Sports: "Twice, a massive lack of concentration, we took a break after 1-0, especially in the first half before the goal, we were just brilliant, we had 24-3 shots, that's incredible but these two moments killed the game for us.

"Arsenal had no real chances, another shot in the last second, you cannot win football games when you concede goals like this.

"We took a break, that's clear, lost concentration, it's the Premier League and you cannot do that. Virgil van Dijk lost the ball but I didn't see a lot of offers. Nobody wanted the ball. It makes no sense.

"We have to learn from that 100%, and we will. I am not sure we never did it all season, we had sloppy moments, once, twice, maybe three times but tonight we got punished from it. It's good on one side because we have to learn from it.

"We were constantly dominant. It was a good game. Arsenal, they were there in two situations, I am not sure they forced them but they were there and they used them."

Match of the Day is on in a minute. Again! I know.

  5. 'Still an enormous gap between teams'published at 22:42 BST 15 July 2020

    FT: Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta: "Absolutely, in terms of energy and happiness in the dressing room before the semi-final, it's a good medicine. To beat this team you have to have moments in the game when you take your chances, defend and have a bit of luck.

"I was worried after 1-0 how we would react. We were able to pick one moment and believe again.

"We will go for both, our maximum, it is just a few games so we will keep going. The gap between the two teams today is enormous, we can not improve it in two months, but the accountability, the fight is now equal and I am very proud of that. The rest will take some time.

"Arsene (Wenger) did some incredible things and was very successful. I have done nothing yet. We need belief to go in the direction."

On finances: "A big concern, you need quality, quality players and a big squad to compete in these competitions. It is a challenge."

Amrul C: Moving on Luiz, Mustafi would be Arteta's next task but you can see what he is trying to create even with this patched up defence.

Seth: Stop making excuses for Liverpool. They came to win the game, but this slump in form started against Watford. They've been found out. Last season, I said that Man City would be found out this season and they have been found out. Can't wait for next season.

  7. Postpublished at 22:33 BST 15 July 2020

Liverpool attempted 24+ shots in a Premier League defeat for the first time since 2 January 2016, when they had 24 attempts in a 2-0 loss at West Ham United.

Wish Liverpool would've told us that they weren't bothered about that record after sealing the title, would have saved me quite a bit of angst. I'm annoyed that I'm annoyed at them, they have been so good all season and delivered what we have all wanted. Just seems a shame to throw away such a strong position to claim we had the best ever PL season!

    Paul in Liverpool

Liverpool still need to learn to finish opportunities - killer instinct has gone since lockdown. Guess success has blunted desire. Need to get it back ASAP.

We can now answer the question "is this Liverpool team the Premier League's best ever?" The answer is No!

  10. 'We got what we deserved'published at 22:29 BST 15 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk talking to Sky Sports: "The goals we gave them as a present. Until their first goal, it was totally us, we gave them two goals and it is difficult to come back. We got what we deserved.

"Until then there was nothing wrong, we played very well. So it's easy to blame us having the the title but until I made the mistake there was nothing wrong.

"I want to win the game, but we can't change that. We will try to win the last two games but can't forget we have had a fantastic season.

"Being champions is a dream come true."

  11. 'I am delighted with the goal'published at 22:23 BST 15 July 2020

    FT: Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Reiss Nelson on Sky Sports: "It's a big achievement for us, we've been working hard on the training pitch so getting a win against the leaders is big.

"You dream as a little boy to score against the big boys - so I'm happy with the results and with my goal. When I get home I'll celebrate with my family. I am delighted with the goal and the lads were excellent tonight."

    FT: Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Two mistakes for Liverpool in a game is really unexpected and uncharacteristic and it doesn't happen often. It allowed Arsenal to hang on to something and they did it very well. You have to credit the group, credit the back three - who were deep at times - but they handled anything that Liverpool threw in there.

Xhaka got his head in the way so many times during set-pieces and corners, which there were a lot of. It's a massive result for Arsenal's confidence going into the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend.

And possession they had - 78.7% in that second half.

  15. 'Wind went out of Liverpool's sails'published at 22:15 BST 15 July 2020

    FT: Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

For the first 30 minutes Liverpool were absolutely brilliant but after the two mistakes, it just took the wind out of their sails. It just gave Arsenal something to hold on to, something to dig in for and Liverpool just couldn't break them down no matter how much they probed or how much possession they had.

When my team Northampton won the league a few years ago we ended up with 99 points and I was annoyed we didn't get 100. For about four minutes.

Winning the title is what it's all about and Liverpool have smashed the league to bits.
