It was a historic day off the field for West Ham, but a happier one on it for Spurs, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal.

As routine a win as you could hope for. Chelsea move within two points of the leaders.

Almost 25,000 were inside the London Stadium today, but it was defeat for the Hammers against Tottenham.

A disappointed and deflated-sounding West Ham boss Matt Beard tells BT Sport: "We can't keep creating the chances we're creating and not taking them.

"It's frustrating and it's cost us today.

"We looked nervous in the first half. In the second half we were a lot better.

"But we've got to give Tottenham credit for the two goals they've scored and for winning the game."

Earlier, there was a routine win for champions Arsenal over Brighton.

Swiss substitute Ramona Bachmann is denied Chelsea's fourth goal by Sophie Baggaley, who has done well to keep the score down at Stoke Gifford Stadium.

At 3-0 down after 17 minutes, the hosts might have been fearing the worst. They haven't ever looked like mounting a comeback, but they've been much better defensively since then.

Spurs' Chloe Peplow adds to BT Sport: "It feels unbelievable. We knew what it meant to the fans and it means the world to us.

"Defensively we've been solid and that played a massive part in us getting the result."

Spurs' player of the match Hannah Godfrey tells BT Sport: "They were quality goals and we kept going and got the victory."

On the crowd, Godfrey adds: "It's amazing, it's what we dream of and it just gives us more excitement to play."

Ji So-yun and Fran Kirby have been substituted by Chelsea boss Emma Hayes in the 65th minute. Their job is done for the day.

It's becoming a very impressive start to life in the top flight for Spurs, after their promotion last season.

Following their narrow loss to Chelsea on the opening weekend, they've now earned back-to-back WSL wins over Liverpool and West Ham.

Six points from nine is an excellent return.

Spurs have done it, winning on the occasion of West Ham's London Stadium debut.

But off the field, the Hammers have made huge strides by attracting a 24,790 crowd, which is the second largest in WSL history.

On the pitch, the home side have been frustrated and they've been made to rue their missed second-half chances. Spurs are over the moon, celebrating on the field.

As we enter the second of five added minutes, Kenza Dali whips in a cross from the right for West Ham and Martha Thomas' header is straight at keeper Becky Spencer.

Rianna Dean has the ball in the net for her second and Spurs' third goal, but the flag was already up for offside. She was just off.

Ann-Katrin Berger has some work to do in the Chelsea goal, tipping a dangerous looking cross from the right over her crossbar.

There hasn't been too much to shout about if you're a Bristol City fan.
